Middle-earth: Shadow of War gameplay revealed in new trailer

The Nemesis system gets an upgrade
shadow of war gameplay

Today’s the day folks. Warner Bros. is unleashing the hounds as Middle-earth: Shadow of War gameplay is revealed in a nice meaty new video.

This trailer introduces the next generation of the Nemesis System (pioneered in the original) with the addition of Nemesis Fortresses.  The Fortress is a sort of base where players must utilize different strategies to conquer dynamic strongholds and forge their personalized Orc army. In this video, Talion and Celebrimbor, who return as the Bright Lord, must lead a fortress assault on the mountain valley of Seregost and take it from one of Sauron’s Overlords. To succeed, they will use the power of the New Ring to recruit Followers during enemy encounters. Yep, basically becoming your own Dark Lord.

Each fortress is a unique place in the game, with its own allies and procedurally generated hierarchy of enemies. You’ll basically recruit and use an army to take over the fortresses – essentially turning Shadow of War into something akin to the cult classic Kingdom Under Fire when you mount your fortress attacks. You recruit them, customize them, and even watch as they betray you and join Sauron. Yes, even your own followers can leave your band of merry orcs.

Five months to launch, boys and girls. Gird those loins.
