Dark Century’s Arena

Dark Century made some changes to their Arena and the most noticeable one is its color. Before, the textures of the wooden boards used on the platform were dark colored but now it has a much lighter color which kinda gave the Arena some life. Life? Ain’t this supposed to be Dark Century? Anyway, I like it because now I can see where I’m walking! LOL!

Another improvement added to the Arena was a controller that automatically raises and lowers the cage and the platform on command. The Count of Dark Century, Drathian Magne, said he scripted it himself.

I didn’t go to Dark Century just to look at the Arena. I went there to watch their Second Tournament but, unfortunately, only a handful of people and participants showed up! Some of the people I can remember that were there are Lydia Hoisan, JediMa Katscher, Leone Seetan and the Count and Countess of Dark Century.

Lydia Hoisan was wearing a really nice outfit. Too bad JediMa killed her so easily!

Scotland and Ireland Closed

I received a message from mikeD Streeter informing me about the closure of two RPG Empire sims, Scotland Highlands and Ireland RP. He didn’t give me the reasons for the closure of the two sims but in an Open Letter sent to everyone as a Group Notice, he explained why the two sims were closed.
Scotland and Ireland Closed

Closed

After reading the letter, I can understand why they were closed but I guess for some the decision won’t be that easy to understand. The points mentioned in the Open Letter are:

* sims within RPG Empire should have good RP between each other
* tiers were not renewed

As part of RPG Empire, a sim under it must have good relations and RP between the other sims within the empire because it does not make any sense to be part of it and not have any relations or interaction with the other sims. Sims within the empire should work together to achieve common goals. This will ensure the success and growth of everyone within the empire. If one decides to take a different path and pursue a different goal then it will just hinder the efforts and growth of the other sims. For example, DCS2 is RPG Empire’s chosen combat system and if one sim will not use it then how can you have good RP based combat between each other?

It’s like this, you chose to be part of a group and as a member of that group you are then expected to follow the rules and guidelines of the group and work together with the other members of the group to achieve its goal. That’s what being part of a group means.

Second Life Bots or simply SLBots

Bots in Second Life are third party programs used to access the server to perform and automate various tasks like camping, group joining, greeting and even copying/cloning. They are based on LibSecondLife’s code, which is Open Source, and are very lightweight since they’re text only. Unlike, those bots found in mmorpgs and other online games, bots in Second Life are allowed by Linden Labs.

Bots have many useful uses but they also have some not so good use like copying other people’s objects and textures. In this post I will list all the Second Life Bots that I know and provide a little info about them.

LibSecondLife’s Test Client (Free)

LibSecondLife’s Test Client is your most basic form of Second Life Bot. It runs in DOS mode and commands are either entered in the console or issued by an assigned Master. You can get a working copy of this program by downloading LibSecondLife’s binary.

LibSecondLife’s Test Client is not very user friendly since you’ll be running it in DOS mode but it does have all the commands at your disposal. It is also very lightweight and uses very little CPU process and memory. You can also log in multiple accounts with only one instance of the program.

LibSecondLife’s Test Client is not all that good because it can be used to copy other people’s objects and textures regardless of permission with its export/import and clone commands.

SLeek (Free)

SLeek is a Second Life text only viewer developed by Delta and it’s a lightweight Second Life client. It is very user friendly because it has a windowed interface (no DOS consoles with SLeek). You can also log in multiple accounts by opening new windows from the main window.

SLeek is very easy to use and the interface is very simple to master. You don’t need to have a Master avatar to control your bot. Everything can be done from the interface.

SLeek is great for camping and chatting and because its window is text only, it doesn’t use too much memory or CPU process. It also can’t be used for stealing or copying other people’s hardwork.

Scotland Highlands Fight

I went to Scotland Highlands to witness the appointment of two Generals but when I got there it was already over. I was about to go back home when someone shouted that a tournament was about to begin and everyone was invited to participate or watch the fight at the Arena.

Scotland Highlands

Scotland Highlands

I’ve been to Scotland Highlands many times but it was my first time to watch a fight there.

The Arena

Before, Scotland Highlands has a rectangular/box shaped Arena which looked very crowded. It was later replaced with one that has a rounded shape. It also has more space which give fighters more freedom to move around while fighting. It is still nowhere the size of The Roman Empire Coliseum though!

The Host, The Queen and more

The event was hosted by Spartan Dalton, a Barbarian from Nordhaven, and, in this tournament, he allowed the use of Enhanced Weapons which is not very common in any RPG Empire region.

The Barbarian Host

Also in attendance is the Queen of Scotland, Saphire Drinkwater, and she has an elegan entourage with here. One thing I noticed about the queen was the fact that her scalp was showing in the photo. LOL!

The Emperor Stepped Down

Last week, the Emperor of Samurai Japan, Ronin McGinnis, stepped down as Emperor and left Samurai Japan. The reason why he left Samurai Japan and abandoned RPG Empire for good is still not clear to me since I do not involve myself in any form of politics within RPG Empire. One thing is clear though, many of his followers left with him.

Samurai Japan

Samurai Japan

I heard that they’ll be starting a Japan sim of there own. One that is not bounded by the Rules and Policies of RPG Empire. Where this new Japan sim will be located is still unknown to me and I also don’t know what its name is.

The New Emperor

Of course, Samurai Japan would not be left without an Emperor. After the events of the departure, Glenn Boccaccio was appointed as the new Emperor of Samurai Japan. Honestly, I do not know anything about the new Emperor but since he is appointed by the father of RPG Empire, mikeD Streeter, then he must be good because mikeD would not appoint just anybody.

A Sim Named Medevil England

Medevil? I guess it’s supposed to be Medieval England because the latter is the name of the place although the sim’s name is Medevil England. Anyway, Medevil or Medieval England it doesn’t really matter, what matter is that it’s a region under RPG Empires in Second Life.

Medieval England

Medieval England

Medieval England is ruled by Enrich Halasy (former Emperor of Rome) together with her partner PhillipaKate Beresford. Currently, both them are away tending to some RL (real life) matters but that didn’t stop the activities and events in Medieval England.

Last week, after the I LOVE M.E. Tournament, I went around and explored the sim to get a better look. I had explored it before but that was when the sim was not yet opened to everyone and it has changed a lot since then.

My personal tour of Medieval England started at the Wharf. This is were the landing point of the sim is located. Everyone who will visit Medieval England will land here. The Wharf is lined with shops that sells various medieval items like swords, shields, armors, gowns, costumes, outfits, etc. from various creators. If you are looking to buy something that has a medieval theme then drop by Medieval England anytime and shop around the Wharf.

The other side of the Wharf is also lined with Shop Spaces. By the way, the shops are not just a simple 8 prim stall. They’re nicely textured Village Stores.

Located at both sides of the sim are two Taverns. One of the taverns is much bigger than the other one but the smaller tavern looks more peaceful than the bigger tavern. This is where the men and women of Medieval England spend their time after a hard day of work. Singing, drinking and sharing tales of adventures and conquests.

Medieval England also has many residential houses but I’m just not sure if they’re all for rent because most that I saw doesn’t have a rental box near it. The styles of each house are different. Some are castle like, others are like cottages and some are your traditional medieval village house. This will give you some choices but of course the prices will also be different. If you are looking for a home in a medieval themed sim then why not take a look at the ones at Medieval England.

Dark Century’s First Tournament

Dark Century is finally open to everyone (see Opening Dark Century with a Ball) and their first tournament was a big success with fighters from all over RPG Empire coming to participate. I also came to participate in the tournament but my non-enhanced sword took a lot of time to rezzed and, what’s worst, my DCS2 meter never loaded.

Drathian Magne and Jacqui Beck

Drathian Magne and Jacqui Beck

The tournament was a Free For All with five rounds of fighting. The fighter who wins the most rounds will be declared the victor. The rules were simple: No Enhance Weapons, No Powers and No Healing. Healing is allowed only after a round is over.

The Arena

The Arena

When I arrived at Dark Century the only people I saw at the arena where Drathian Magne, Jacqui Beck, Gandy Kidd and Axe Darkstone. If I remember it correctly, they were all seated at the stands patiently waiting for more people to appear. Fortunately, people, as far as Nordhaven, started dropping one by one including the Queen of Sparta, Jackie Balbozar.

Join RPG Empire and Win 15,000L$

Whoa! Who wants to win 15,000L$? If you have to do the math then 15,000L$ is about $56USD (based on the current estimated Linden Dollar exchange rate of L$265.72 / US$1.00).

RPG Empire in Second Life

RPG Empire in Second Life

Good news everyone, RPG Empire is going to give away 15,000L$ to any member of RPG Empire who’ll get the most profile views.

What am I blabbing about? Well, RPG Empire recently revamped their website and changed it into a community portal for all members of RPG Empire in Second Life. The new site is powered by Joomla and uses the mighty Community Builder extension together with Fireboard, Joomla’s fully integrated forum/messageboard. It will feature tournaments, events, updates, news and latest developments around RPG Empire.

I was asked to do the site and I mentioned that it would be easier and faster if a content management system like Joomla would be used because Joomla already has a community/social networking extension like Community Builder. I used them before in two of my other sites and it was really easy to use. Unfortunately, someone else did the revamp but at least the idea I mentioned was used.

Opening Dark Century with a Ball

Yesterday, RPG Empire’s latest region Dark Century was officially launched. The region is made up of two sims, Dark Century and Dark Century II and it is Vampire/Goth/Dark/Demonic themed which means all you creatures of the night now have a new place in Second Life to hang-out in.

The opening of Dark Century was celebrated with a ball and everyone in RPG Empire was invited. Of course, the sims would crash if everyone did come to the ball but at least 30 to 40 people came and celebrated the occassion.

Dark Century Castle

Dark Century Castle

While everyone was partying inside the castle I was outside chatting with Anhara Welles of the Augustus Family in Rome. I enjoyed my little chat with her. By the way, before chatting with her I kinda asked if I can take a photo of her burning. LOL! There was a burning stake outside the castle and you can pose on it and the Princess very kind to pose for me.

Anhara Welles

Anhara Welles, Princess of Rome

I was too bright for the occassion so I excused myself to the princess and went home to change into a much darker colored outfit. I actually don’t need to go home to change but the sim was getting a little laggy because of the number of people on it and if it’s laggy then putting on attachments would be really slow. Going home to change was a faster solution.

When I returned, the princess was laughing at my outfit which was a Stick Fighter avatar. LOL! Well, at least it was black and it blended with the dark surrounding very well. He he he! Afterwards, the princess left for some Real Life duties. I spent the rest of my time there burning on the stake while taking snapshots of the ball. LOL!

There are hundreds of hair creators in Second Life and one brand of hair I really is Simply Britnee by Britnee Hadlee. My avatar, Rom Ireton, owns four Simply Britnee hairs (Brandon Blackjack, Brandon Canielm, Brandon Ghaun and Brandon Lajon). Brandon is Simply Britnee’s name for men’s hair.

Simply Britnee

Simply Britnee

Yesterday, I went to Simply Britnee’s main store at Barbados to check out a new hair for Kabalyero Kidd but while I was scanning through the many line of men’s hair I noticed that a few of the product displays don’t have a DEMO under it. Curious, I right clicked on one and selected BUY. To my surprise, the prize of the hair was 0L$. At first I thought it might be an error in Britnee’s part so I checked all the product displays that also don’t have a DEMO under it and all of them were 0L$. OMG! The hairs were FREE! I LOVE Medevil England (Medieval England)

The I LOVE M.E. (Medevil England) was a big success in my book. The number of people who came to participate was very encouraging. I did not participate in any of the games but I did stay and watched all of it. I stayed in a corner so that I won’t get in their way and just used my camera to pan and zoom around.

Chandu Dreslet, Tournament Master

Chandu Dreslet, Tournament Master

The I Love M.E. Tournament is made up of 3 games and they are Jousting, Archery and Melee Fighting. Participants will compete in all of the games and the overall winners will be awarded with Linden Dollars and some really cool items from a special sponsor whom I forgot who (sorry about that, bad memory). The Tournament Master assigned was Chandu Dresler and I believe he did a great job at it.

Jousting

Jousting was the first event of the tournament. It involves a horse and a really long stick. It is done by riding on your horse towards your opponent and then poking them with that long stick. LOL!

Jousting

Jousting

Archery

This event involves the use of a bow and arrows. He he he! You take a bow and then shoot an arrow towards a stationary target. This event was harder than it looks because you need to hit the bullseye to score. No bullseye, no score, no points!

Today, RPG Empire launched a new RP/Combat sim and it is none other than Ireland RP. The sim, Ireland RP, is just beside the Scotland Highland sim and its Grand Opening was highlighted with the wedding of Duchess Shiloh Kesslinger and Wizard Zaff Blackburn.

All of RPG Empire was invited to the wedding which was held in a beautiful cathedral on top of a hill in Ireland RP. A lot of personalities came to see the wedding and to give their best wishes to the bride and groom. I was there as well but I just stayed in the background, observing and taking snapshots of the event.

Dark Century is coming to RPG Empires. It is made up of two sims and it is for those who are into vampires, ghouls, ghost, demons or anything that is dark/devilish in nature. I’m not really familiar with this kind of theme but there are many residents in Second Life who are into it and if you are one of them then this is a perfect place for you to hang-out.

Dark Century is always set to midnight and it is best explored in mouselook. Of course, you can always set your viewers to midday specially if you want to see everything clearly but if you want to keep the earie, dark and mysterious feel of the place then just keep it on midnight.
