Well right now I'm currently playing EQ II getting really mad at the fact there is basically 0 PvP on PvE servers... even in WoW which I played for over 3 years had Plenty of PvP to spare in PvE servers.  At the time I didnt feel like rolling on the PvP server for EQ since I had bad experiences with large group of ppl hunting ppl =)... But anyway...

Points aside, Ive heard a ton of encouraging facts about the game and I'd switch over within couple months most likely since it seems to be a great game from what Ive heard.  On the other hand Ive also been hearing about tons of Bugs and whatnot that seem to be seriously effecting game play.  I can understand this since it was simple logic to beat Warhammer and other games to the line since they would release and possibly steal potential customer's of Funcom, so a Rushed release was needed.

My questions are:

#1 How playable are most of the bugs Higher and lower levels?

#2 How unique is the game overall, Ive heard about the combat system?

#3 How easy or annoying is it to PvP?

#4 Whats the outlook on more Endgame PvE such as Raiding etc.

#5 How does the game do in PvE since there is only 1 healer class to my knowledge I'd imagine it would be difficult to find healer for groups and such.

#6 Is this game worth switching to at this point or 1-2 months down the road... may seem like a bit to much to ask for most of these questions but I just want to get my facts straight before I make any rash decisions like I did with hellgate london >.<....  Since there is no trial yet.

I just dinged 38 and i gotta say there are some very frustrating bugs along the way.  Broken quests, feats broken, ui/chat settings don't save, combos not working, mounts bugged, traders bugged, harvesting cotton broke, and so many more game breaking issues.

#2 How unique is the game overall, Ive heard about the combat system?

I didn't like the combat at first, but it grew on me and i actually love it now.

#3 How easy or annoying is it to PvP?

FFA is fail in any MMO, so i rolled PvE instead.  I didn't try the Culture (Faction) PvP though, maybe it's better.

#4 Whats the outlook on more Endgame PvE such as Raiding etc.

Once you hit the mid 30s, some quests start to require groups, most notably the Ymir quests in Conall's Valley, then Sanctum of Burning Souls at 37. There's also a raid at 80, but game is still new to get feedback from it.

#5 How does the game do in PvE since there is only 1 healer class to my knowledge I'd imagine it would be difficult to find healer for groups and such.

This is the problem with AoC.  Grouping isn't encouraged since everything is solo so far.  But from what i've seen, the healers are very good. Tempest of Sets i think they're called.

I'd wait for a trial to come out to see if you're PC has any issues first.  There's been a lot of crashes, memory leaks, and freezes on many PCs so far.

I'm enjoying the game though, despite all these problems, but i wish i would've waited because it feels like i'm playing a rushed unfinished product.

I like it pretty well but you may want to hold off about a month for them to get things straight,  seems like a patch every night atm.

  1. The bugs are present (or so people claim, haven't run into any yet) but in no way game breaking. If you have a decent system (not more than 2 years old, you'll have a good experience playing the game).
  2. Combat system, especially for melee is different. You're either like it or hate it, but it's something that only you can decide. Spell weaving for casters start at 50+ so it's much more of a later deal.
  3. It's very easy to PvP. Too easy perhaps. So easy it does get annoying some times.
  4. No real outlook yet. Very few legit guilds reached the stage where they can craft cities and keeps. There is also a bug that prevents cities from growing at the moment. Somebody posted that it's been resolved but I'll check with my guild later tonight.
  5. There are three healer classes. Priest of Mitra, Tempest of Set and Bear shaman. Healing mainly consists of HoTs, so it's different than your regular MMO healing. You'll find yourself looking at bars a lot less than other MMOs. You'll also find it harder to recover if you pull more than your team can chew.
  6. It's worth checking. It's not worth switching unless you're bored with your current game and want something new. No game is worth switching if the current game provides fun and you're already established in that community.

#1 How playable are most of the bugs Higher and lower levels? lower levels arent that bad, and even at my level (49) they really dont make the game unplayable, they've fixed the few that were really bugging me. (pun intended ) Although my class isnt really as bugged as some others

#2 How unique is the game overall, Ive heard about the combat system? from a melee perspective i would say the combat, graphics, and mature content (fatalities, gore, blood, boobs)

#3 How easy or annoying is it to PvP? i stay away from pvp servers due to the overall ganking and spawn/zone camping, im on a cultural pvp server and its pretty much set up to where if you want pvp, it doesnt take long to find it if you go out and look for it

#4 Whats the outlook on more Endgame PvE such as Raiding etc. dunno yet, too early to tell

#5 How does the game do in PvE since there is only 1 healer class to my knowledge I'd imagine it would be difficult to find healer for groups and such. i think there are 3 healer classes ....... i havent done a whole lot of instances, but the one i did was a bit fast and it felt a little better then WoW's instances because half of the time it was more then everyone hitting one mob at a time.

If you are still unsure about the game, i would just wait till the buddy keys are available and just try it then. It wont be a big deal if you start late unless you roll on a pvp server.

Idk I might try leap of faith and start the game.. if I ever get bored can always go back to EQ 2 stuff.. or Cabal.. or WoW... go so many high chars on different games aint funny...

My Computer is decently powered 3gb ram, 6600 quad... 8800 gt so should beable to run Conan fine.

I plan to play a ranger just because they sound fun and challenging, How do they do Solo like do you get 1 arrow off then the mob is in your face and you have to melee or?

There's some bugs. Right now there is a Trader bug where if you use the trader for banking, mailing, or buying you can loose all your money when you log off. There some other bugs too but that seems to be the dominating one right now.

Game is playable.

#2 How unique is the game overall, Ive heard about the combat system?

I didn't really find the combat system all that unique.  You're still smashing buttons (or numbered keys) to correlate with the combos. IMO, its a glorified version of the Heroic attacks on EQ2.  In AoC (for melee classes) you get a set of combat moves.  You press that combat key and then press 1,2, or 3 depending on what the next move is needed for the combo hit.

With the shield you can block and move it around but it takes up a lot of stamina and found just whacking the hell out of them with combos is a lot more effective.

In terms of uniqueness....I didn't really find the combat system unique. Its just packaged differently.  Although the fatalities are fun.

#3 How easy or annoying is it to PvP?

Its very annoying. You've played EQ2. Ever played EQ2 PvP? Its worse than that.  There are no lvl restrictions to PvP combat.  There are no rewards to PvP.  In the past they were suppose to give you combat tokens for PvP kills but theyve scratched that.

They are working on a PvP punishment for griefers but as it stands there isn't any real reason to PvP except for the city attacks and the thrill.  Other than that there isn't a reward system built into the PvP.  Also, if you're a melee class you will plow down any magic user your lvl or up to 4 lvls in PvP.

#4 Whats the outlook on more Endgame PvE such as Raiding etc.

There's some endgame. However, I hope funcom adds more. There's not enough IMO.

#5 How does the game do in PvE since there is only 1 healer class to my knowledge I'd imagine it would be difficult to find healer for groups and such.

There's technically 3 priests but the most potent priest (in terms of healing is the PoM).  Ive played the ToS (Tempest of Set) and I found the heals weren't good enough for the PvE damage when I was in a group with a tank.

Also, grouping is sorta rare in AoC. You can solo everything, including dungeons.  I'm lvl 53 and Ive grouped only 3 times (one time was when someone showed me where a quest giver was)

#6 Is this game worth switching to at this point or 1-2 months down the road... may seem like a bit to much to ask for most of these questions but I just want to get my facts straight before I make any rash decisions like I did with hellgate london >.<....  Since there is no trial yet.

I would def wait another 2-3 months for AoC.  Or when the next month rolls over try to get a buddy pass to test it out first.
