and is it casual  friendly? Thinking of giving it another go... or EQ2, haven't decided yet.

Current: LotRO, WoW
Played: EVE, Lineage II, SWG (Pre CU), CoH, EQ2, WAR.
Waiting for: Stargate Worlds, SWTOR

Ask a question and you are stupid for 30 seconds, never ask and you are stupid for life.

Plenty of both solo content and group content from what I've found...after level 10 is when grouping starts to become more common.

As for it being casual friendly, well I wouldn't be the best to answer that...but I find that I can craft if I want to, or harvest stuff or just do some quests...it does take longer to get to the "end game", but I can play a few hours or an hour or even 30 minutes and can still do stuff in that time. And if you don't like raids, you don't have to do them...since you can explore, craft or any number of things besides that.

I would have to disagree with group stuff after level 10, I dont know how the population is lately since i stopped playing 4 months ago, but ALL my characters I had to go solo up until level 20+ thats when most of the good armor/weapon quests comes into play and requires you to get a group ( or maybe 1 or 2 buddies) The only time I played with a group is during the times when I wanted better armor/weapons. Other than that I can solo/farm for everything else on my ranger. Trust me, there will be times when you just get tired of looking for a group, and will eventually learn to do it yourself.

Lets face it, MMOs today are turning into single player console games with a chat box included.

I think youd enjoy EQ2 better personally, its a bit more approachable, and has a better population.

Played Vanguard when it came out, played it again a few months ago and you still had to group to wipe your own arse past level 10...

Come to think about it i am bias against the game, i loved my old deciple and HATE what they did with the class

Its a good game if you can get past the extream group play style.

So ya EQ2 is better, it has a lot more content for both solo and groups.

I think that is going to depend on their goal(s) short term and long term.

EQ2 can be very harsh depending..

You can solo in either game its just going to depend on your play style and what class you think you want to play with factor in majorly.

the main problem in eq2 is cost of upgrades.. you really have to be about willing to gather/craft yourself.  I've played the game since launch and I won't even pay market prices.

I think we'd have to know a bit more to really give you an honest assessment of what to expect in eq2 anyway.  I've only played VG a bit here and there lately and really can't say (my 50 is from the first month of game).  EQ2 I solo, group and raid.. depending on what I feel like doing at the time.

I'd say there is positives and negatives to both and it really depends on what you want to do and play.

"We already have two operating MMOs. We launched a game called Ultima Online in 1997. It's still got hundreds of thousands of subscribers. Then there's Dark Age of Camelot, we also have a situation where we have well over 100,000 subscribers."

Does it seem odd that UO has more subscribers than the best RvR game on the market?

There has been a big influx of new players in the last 2 months. Getting a group in pretty easy now. Generally, no one groups until after lvl 10 because the quests you will be doing for gear are all solo and lvl 10 comes pretty fast. After that people group or solo when ever they want. Try Vanguard to get a feel for it. The folks who havent tried Vanguard within the last 2 months really can make comments about the current gameplay because the game has improved a HUGE amount in that time.

I've got a 20 Disciple that I use for harvesting/farming and I have never been forced to group for any quest besides those designated as group quests.

I'm fairly new to the game though so maybe something has been changed since when you played?
