Being the fact that it's blizzard we are talking about I don't think we will get to know anything about the new MMO until it is in a semi-stable alpha state. :/

Could also be as I have suspected since they announced that they are working on a new MMO... They don't know what it's supposed to be about themselves yet... just feelt the need to say that a new one is comming as WoW started slowly dropping in subscribers. ^^

Any new or returning player to WOW, send me a PM for some help getting started.

slowly dropping in subscribers?  In April they announced 10.9M subscribers which is their all-time high.  They also have maintained the top 10 in box sales throughout the summer.  There is no reason to think they are losing net subscribers..  just saying you 'feel' it does not overcome the evidence to the contrary.  People have been saying it is 'old' for 2 years now, yet in that time it has more than doubled in population.  It has weathered LotRO, AOC and Warhammer without missing a step.  There is also no competitor coming in the near future.

The new MMO is probably 2-3 years away, and will probably be based on the SC IP.

I really, really hope so, but I also highly doubt it. With SC2, D3 and WoTLK all in development status at the same time, I would wager that Blizz will continue to get their fanbois with these. My guess would be an announcement after WoTLK and SC2 launch, but before D3, they will give us a look at this new "top secret" MMO.

Who know though, maybe this weekend will give me a geekgasm of more Blizzard deleciousness.

I no longer have a taste for WoW, but it kept me entertained for years, which is more than I can say about any other MMO since EQ. WAR seems to have hit the spot for now, but I have no clue what end game will hold for me. If end game proves enjoyable I will probably stick around until something better (Mortal Online, I hope) comes along.

If Blizz releases a new MMO, I will def. give it a shot.

I guess they annouced that all these "new" subscribers were independent too? Becouse I have seen a very big uprising of gold spammers in EU region of the game. For the sake of argument blizzard bans 500.000 "spammers" and those 500.000 resubscribe with new accounts wouldn't that be a possible 1.000.000 subscribers if you choose the not remove the 500.000 banned subscribers from the report? I am not saying that blizzard is doing this... But it would a in their favour to.

My "feeling" of them loosing is based on servers starting to get deserted in EU region, they are doing server mergers, forced transfers etc. but heck, maybe people keep subscriptions running just to be nice to blizzard. ^^

May contain nuts.

I'd love an announcement on their next-gen MMO but I can't see it somehow. Blizzard have got enough on their plate already with Wotlk, Star2 and D3.

I think their big announcement (if at all) will be one of the following:

- Next WoW expansion.

- New D3 classes.

- Star2 release date.

- Next WoW Hero Class.

============================
Playing: WoW, VG:SoH, RoM (Beta)
Played: GW, LOTRO, TR, DDO, AoC, EvE
Waiting for: Darkfall (Lost all hope), RoM

uhm

do you know the topic is about the NEW mmo from blizzard?

btw

1) There haven't been any server mergers, no idea where you got that from

2) subscription will go up when WOTLK releases

3) those 500000 en 1000000 numbers are really ridiculous

" I have seen".  Again, your 'gut' feeling is that there are more gold-spammers than before.  There is nowhere near as many gold spammers as there was 2 years ago.   And it is nowhere near half a million players.. that is just silly.  Have you played Warhammer?  I did for 2 weeks and there are way more gold-spammers in that game.. so does that mean the 500k subscribers of warhammer are also all gold-farmers.

"for the sake of argument".   it's really pointless to use this phrase and then follow up with crazy numbers.  You could have just as easily said " suppose there are 10 gold farmer accounts that got banned, and they had to rebuy a box, would that get counted at 20?".  You used an absurdly high number and then expect the reader to buy into your theory?

In conclusion..   " I have seen" a lot of hype for WotLK... " for the sake of argument" lets say that 90% of people who have ever played WOW decide to come back and buy the expansion..  won't that put WOW at like 20M.
