The folks at Tabula Rasa have announced the addition of several new view modes in Tabula Rasa, including first person or fps view, scope views, mech cockpit view, and more.

Heck ya! It's Halloween and it's time for some tricks and treats arriving on a planet near you. First, I'll give a trick. If you eat a whole bag of candy, you are way more effective in combat. I just head-butted a Thrax soldier outside my office. Well, it could have been a co-worker dressed in a Thrax suit, but it serves him right.

Now for the treats! First, what is better than blasting some Bane with your trusty shotty? How about blasting some Bane with your trusty shotty in a first person view? With a FPS view, you can finally get all up-close and personal with your favorite lobster. Just wear your bib because things get pretty messy.

Some nice additions,

Although the Cockpit View for PAUs (MECHS) definitely needs some tweaking and visual improvements. To me it just looks like a metal border around the default HUD, with a poorly designed "window" for you to look through from within.

Would be great to see some hand controls, levers, guages, etc.. system readouts, things that help ingame immersion. As an example,  the old Battletech games had great mech cockpit views, you actually felt as if you were piloting the mech.

I can see your epitaph now, on the day you expire. It will read "Wasted Potential".

You can't make the Mech insides too complex or it'll get confusing with the overlaying UI.

Course they could make the UI into the mech, which would require reloading the UI everytime you log in, so I dunno.

Would be a neat idea, but might be too complex.

Also I like where this game is going, sounds tempting. It's been a long time since i played, dunno what it's like anymore, but it sounds like it finally going in A directiong. lol

Cry Havoc, and let slip the trolls of war!

Let me know when it becomes a true FPS, I then might consider re-installing it.

Welcome to Philadelphia, now go home!

I might have to re-sub soon. Played for awhile and got a few toons up to 50. Liked the hybrid thing, but found that finding groups for some of the lvl 50 missions was impossible, not to mention getting that one to actually open up (where you had to capture all the bases). I remember that the producers said they were never going to introduce scopes or FPS play. Guess low sub numbers made them change their minds.

Might actually be fun to play a sniper now. All they need now is to add targetable points to hit (head, arm, tentacle, etc.) and the game may become worth playing again.

Adding Earth as a playfield is a nice factor, I wonder what ever happened to the idea of actually boarding the ship that orbits Foreas though. Also adding another planet. A few more missions and instances opened up does not give a game a 2nd chance. I'll continue to wait until its more polished.

The screenshot you talk about is the rocket launcher. They say in the chapter about the mech HUD, in the end (no screenshot yet)

Being too much like an FPS and not enough like an RPG is what hosed this game in the first place. The combat wasn't too terrible, it was just the lack of nearly everything else. And what they did with the logos system, urg, so much lost potential.
