....and play on the pvp Siege Perilous server?

Most of us care more about gameplay than graphics
Most of us want great pvp
Most of us want a nice crafting system
Most of us want an open world
Most of us want a sandbox

Why not Ultima Online? They have a new expansion coming out soon and they have maintained 100k subscriptions for quite some time now.

Check my post history if you think I am a shill...

May contain nuts.

I couldn't even register when I wanted to give it a try. I gave up from pure frustration with their shoddy registration system. I figured that if they couldn't even get that right, what did that say about the rest of the game.

I didn't play UO, but aside from AC I've never heard a game get better reviews.  In fact just yesterday I went to the UO site and thought about giving it a whirl.  I do see alot of people complaining about Trammel (wth is that anyways?) and massive botting.  The botting thing really turned me off.

Anyone around that can give a current state of the game AND also give us that didn't play it a summary of how "far behind" we'd be in the grand scheme of things.  I left EQ2 and returned after a year and the gap between myself and others really made it hard to play at times - no group for you!

But once again, it does sound like UO is still king.

"Doin Sh*T Bein Fit And Too Legit To Quit!"

I would actually like to hear as well, what is the current state of the game.

Because the game has been ruined by EA.  It's Ultima online in name only these days. It's not the great sandbox game it once was. The Age of Shadows expansion put the final nail in the coffin for the player run crafting and repair economy. It's got more in common with Sim's online now, and it's full of players running bots for just about everything.

Have to agree with Zayne on this one, tried the ultima kingdom reborn trail a while back and was enjoying it but not enough to buy and subscribe....but it seems EA thought that I would be overcome with the pure joy of the game and went and billed me for the client...before the trial was up! Sent email after email about it and guess what....no reply...

Don't know if you can run it?

EA's customer support is like driving a 5 inch rail road spike into your frontal lobe. However yeah I do miss the old days of UO.

Been playing on and off for 11 years (this includes about 20 times resubscribing and cancelling), with various old computers and new ones, 56k modems to cable modems, from Windows 95 to Windows Vista and not once have ever had any issues with their registration website, mis-charges, etc.

Much like the "Vista bashers" You are basing this off of perception. I get in game help rather quickly with EA tech support.

Yet it still has more sandbox than any game out there.

Keep in mind if they did not make an attempt to appeal or "sell out" a bit, they would not exist. It was a slippery slope.

The old UO (1997 to 2000) was losing subscribers slowly and they needed to inject new ideas to keep afloat during the EQ explosion.
