I disagree entirely about chosen: The auras, while a bit helpful, do not compensate for their lack of survivability. The entire function of a tank is to be able to survive as long as possible, since it functions primarily as damage mitigation for the healer/dps it is guarding.

<snip>

I'm also curious to see how they're going to nerf EA's DoT component in the upcoming patch...

Chosen are just a later-blooming class.  Suppression (DPS core ability at 25) really helps their defenses.

Their DPS tree may be pure mediocrity, but their tank/reflection tree and its bonuses are pretty bad ass, esepcially when they fix a few of its abilities.  Mixed defenses and a tactic'd-out baneshield running off of STR bonus instead of INT will make them a formidable frontline fighter.  The only defensive "hole" that bothers me about Chosen is that I think the Warped Flesh tactic should either have been a core skill in Corruption, or a pathable tactic in Corruption.  Either way, being completely unable to improve their absorb shield with mastery points is kind of lame.

Discord is, in my opinion, woefully underrated by most people.  A PBAoE toggle 25% heal nerf to -every enemy in range- is crazy good.  So is Blast Wave's massive resistance strip (granted, if resists weren't currently broken and affected crits it'd be even better, but with the upcoming crit reduction to Brights and Sorcs it will be a little better than it is now).  Throw in Quake, and all of these AOEs getting STR as their modifier instead of INT, you've got some solid crowd control/suppression on your hands.  Mix in the heal/caster punishment (Tainted Wound, Discordant... Instability?  Flux?  I can't remember) and some of the disrupt-related skills, not to mention Touch of Paulsy, and you've got a very flexible "shutdown" type of character, that can punish individuals or whole teams based entirely on what they try to do.  Lastly, add in that almost all of a Discord Chosen's damage is spiritual instead of physical, and you've got a decent damage dealing capacity.

Sure, that's not a tank in any traditional sense, but when we can't force someone to target lock us anyway, and carrying a shield usually just makes the enemy target -anyone- else first, our lower survivability isn't hurting us as much as one would think.  A crowd-controller in tank's clothing will still be ignored like a tank, and we can still soak half of someone's damage while doing an excellent service for our team as a whole.

SCIENCE PROVES CAPS LOCK CAN CURE CANCER.

Two biggest factors for me were...

COMBAT & DESIGN:

As the OP mentions, there really is no sense of strategy within this game. I reached lvl 28 with my BW and in all honesty, not once was I really challenged or found to have to use my brains / wits to complete a goal. It is all a simple game of rock, paper, scissors; As a BW I stay back and spam my fireballs at the targets with no armor, and then eventually find myself attacked by a witch elf; of course, having no possible way to fight back unless you want to try your escape moves only to waste time, I stick to the no armored target until the witch elf finishes me off, and my only hope of survival is for some melee DPS or another BW to take care of the witch elf on me. That was the game. I was hoping this game would deliver in actual strategic combat and having to be on your toes, but it fails to deliver. I've tried all of the classes to at least lvl 10 and none of them showed that they would challenge me any more then my lvl 28 BW, which is disappointing to say the least.

Second, the design is fatally flawed. As it is already a major issue discussed, the balance of exp between PvE, scenarios, and RvR was ridiculous; the entire game was focused around a mini-game. RvR was fun if you did not like advancing and PvE was... pathetic, to say the least. And the reason PvE doesn't work is because of...

THE COMMUNITY:

I already had my doubts about this game having a good community with how great a resemblance it beared with WoW, but I hoped against it. Of course, it turned out to be exactly the same; the community of this game is just horrible in terms of MMOs. PQs... a great idea, in theory, the same way communism is good... in theory. If people are actually willing to do them, PQs would be amazing. And in all honesty, WAR did good in this respect as the PQs were generally worthwhile. The problem I had with them was that I could not find a single freakin' person who wanted any other human contact; a reminder from my olden days of WoW. It is damn near impossible to enjoy the PvE content when you cannot do it with anyone else, as it really isn't WAR's primary objective in the first place. However, community isn't as much of an issue to me as design and combat. WoW is a great example of this; I'd say it is superior to every other MMO out on the market other then it's community, which I would proclaim is the worst (second worst, the worst having to be AoC's in complete honesty). When I played WoW, I didn't even care if I could barely find others in the world to play with, the world itself kept me entertained. In WAR, I felt bored out of my mind.

So basically, there's my three main reasons why I left. If the game had a better poshness it may have been my favorite of all time. But sadly I think this game will not be able to drag me back in again, or at least not anytime soon.

This game should not be categorized as a Massively Multiplayer Online RPG (MMORPG) but should be called a Massively Single Online RPG (MSORPG). Problem is I thought it was an MMO.

Cynical? Me? Never.

I don't even know where to begin. The lame balance would be a start.  Archer and the "sneak" classes are easily killed with zero utility, tanks are indestructable, casters are DPS machines, and healers take quite a bit of dps to get down. Secondly, is the dead world. I felt no reason to go out and explore the world because of the lack of XP in pve.

The game had a lot of shortcomings as far as I'm concerned.

I was always disappointed with the graphics and art style.  The latter seemed to make the former appear worse than it is.  I think they could have done a much better job of capturing the table top artwork and bringing a more vivid look to the world.  It just looks so stale to me.

The sound is simply awful.  I don't know how this happened but it appears to have been an afterthought to the whole game.

PVE lacks, PVP is repetitive and very dull.

PQs are fun initially, but the lack of players outside of scenarios makes it seem more like a grind than anything else.

However, more than all these specifics, the game is just really boring to me.  I never became excited or invested in any of my playtime.  It's weird because I never found LOTRO boring (yet it's their biggest complaint), but this game bores the tears out of me.

I had very low expectations coming into the game, so I wasn't setting the game up to fail or anything.  It's just a really dull game to me.

" Chuck Norris and Buck Rogers are really brothers..one joined the army one the air force."

I quit because everyone is playing scenarios and no one in the open world. That and the lack of social emotes.

I did give in and play scenarios ffor a few weeks to play with other players in my guils but that just got so boring so fast. I went back to the open world to pvp and pve but there was just no one around.

Maybe in a year they will have this fixxed and I might try again.

Cheers!

Owned

I quit because the pve never kept me wanting to get on, rather it kept me finding things to do besides play the game. PvP is very important to me, but without a good PvE background to me it is useless. That and the fact that the PvP was quite underwhelming as well. Maybe I went in with the wrong mind set, but I really wanted a DAoC 2. The best MMO times of my gaming life were my years on DAoC Merlin server, rolling with my guild Ignition on Hib. Seriously, they just need to update DAoC's graphics and PvE game a bit and it'd amazing again.
