"Eye for an Eye"

One thing about this game is that hey , it has a low population ,so what. The only thing I see wrong is the people who need to have 10.000 people escort them through a game world.

The thing about VG that seperates its self from other games, is that you are the story. You are the one who makes up what happens to you in the world. The adventures of you , played by you. Specially on the PV server where the dynamic of the game really comes into play of being a a good person, or down right evil person.

If people don't step up to the play and dive into the game for themselves , the game will continue to dwindle, and this is one of the few mmorpgs, that you truly have to play it for yourself, or you just won't survive in Telon.

Free trial is available, the game itself is dirt cheap at retail outlets, there is no excuse, if you know this is the type of world you want to help ppopulate and become successful, it is all up to the community og he game to make it happen.

I found my love in LotrO, but I have a feeling there are people who will absolutely love this game , no matter how many people are playing, if only they would just give it a go !

Good points, except the only server that struggles with population is the PvP server.  The others are pretty healthy and on the rise.  Hopefully we'll be talking about adding a server at some point in the future.

There's really no point in PvPing in this game, because most of the time when you do PvP it usually lasts up to 30 minutes.

I played a DK and fought a DK we just gave up and went our own seperate ways because it took forever to kill each other.

I think that one of the reasons one notices population issues in Vanguard is because the world is so huge. The chances of running into someone random in the wildness are far, far less than running into someone in the wildness in a game such as WoW (sorry to use this example) for example.

I agree, but since launch , they have made a good many improvemnets to direct players to interest points making it more common to run into each other. On the pvp server, battle can last very long , but I've never saw that as a bad thing...

 That's fantastic!

It's great that it's possible. A real classic piece of fantasy literature right there in game!

Two evenly matched opponents wailing on each other to a stand still.

I'm still not sure what I prefer, worlds where you feel 'alone' or worlds where there are random and anonymous 'others' running around (and sometimes just straight through) you while you are supposedly creeping through some long forgotten and deserted dungeon, etc...

I can understand why some people prefer 'instanced' quests/dungeons. On the other hand ... there's something special about randomly meeting up with someone in the middle of nowhere and getting helped or helping them through a particularly nasty bit.

In some ways I think DDO made an honourable try at a compromise, but I'm not playing DDO anymore, so perhaps it wasn't a good compromise after all.

Population in any of these MMO's is ALWAYS going to be an issue. We have an already saturated market of MMO's and there are new ones ready to burst onto the scene as we type.

People are hopping from new MMO to new MMO in search of the 'ultimate' MMO. The player base is only so big, The more new MMO's we see, the more likely we are to see some of the less 'popular' ones fizzling out. This can be a good thing, as only the strong survive, however. History has taught us that the 'strong' are not always the 'good guys'. Massive server population does not mean an MMO is 'good'. just that it's 'popular'.

Does Vanguard have a 'constant, always busy' population level?

No.

Does it have a 'good' population level?

Yes, and it's getting better.

I disagree. I think that there is still plenty of room to grow. The untapped market of developing countries exists, broadband is/has become the norm, newer generations are interested in technology more than the older generations etc.

dont ALL SOE games have population problems?

dont/didnt they kind of bring that upon themselves?

getting people to try a SOE game is an uphill battle:

1:"its made by who?"

2:"SOE"

1:"SONY !?! no thanks"

2:"its really not a bad game!"

1:"whatever fanboy"

much less keeping them playing them as they watch the pop's dwindle and the game mechanics be destroyed and rebuilt infront of them.

maybe if everyone just jumps ship NOW they will finally admit failure and some more deserving titles can get the player numbers they deserve (asin next year).
