The new legendary weapon system implemented in the Moria expansion pack in LoTRO is really awesome. Once you get a legendary weapon it earns XP just like your character that you can spend to improve your weapon. Plus you can add on gems, runes and settings to further customize your weapon. You can level up to 6 weapons at a time. You can also break down weapons to get pieces to add to your other weapons.

This adds a whole new dimension in gameplay that I have never experienced before in a MMORPG. The level of complexity and customization this affords is quite staggering and due to the nature of how this industry works I won't be surprised when other games start copying this feature.

I just want to give Turbine props for yet another innovative game feature they brought to the table. I am completely hooked on fiddling around with my weapons to get them to be better.

why do humans build, because it isn''t there

Your sig wouldn't hold up in any sane court.   A contract requires a meeting of minds somthing that clearly did not happen in your sig.

I would certainly hope that there are many variations of these weapons.  I recall in some single player RPGs, when you get the 'ultimate' weapon it kind of sucks later because suddenly its the only weapon thats usefull anymore.  Especially in FFX you have made all these custom swords but with the dmg bonus of ultimate weps your crazy to equip anything else.

Kind of like epic weapons in EQ lol everyone made so much effort to get theirs, and then everyone was walking around with the same weapons, only for the next expo to herald junk weapons that were better base stats.

Sounds like a good idea I just hope they dont limit the variety of options available.

No my sig wouldn't hold up in a sane court...but notice how similar it is to many MMORPG's EULA's?

Sarcasm is completely missed on some people

I don't know if there are too many variations on looks but there certainly seem to be many ways to customize "what" they do.

For the Horde!

You must have stopped playing EQ a few years ago, because that game had items with experience gain - such as swords that you level up, and gain new stats each level, and with 'augmentation slots' for some time now.

Yea I stopped playing EQ about the time of PoP, or as I like to call it PoOP hehe

I also remember my lvl 150 advent in AO who was dual wielding crispies, I tried to find something better in the database but the only thing was some alien weapons which were at the end of a big quest chain.  I really like MMOs that have a nice big variety of weapons and not 1 cookie cutter weapon that everyone in that class either has or is trying to get.  Thats one thing I do like about WoW, you can get epic PVE weapons, arena / PVP weapons, AND crafted weapons.  But I think everyone tends to go for the PVP ones.  Diablo2 actually has a nice system of random prefixes and suffixes which determine the weapons mods.
