A Letter to the Tabula Rasa Community

Last November we launched what we hoped would be a ground breaking sci-fi MMO. In many ways, we think we've achieved that goal. Tabula Rasa® has some unique features that make it fun and very different from every other MMO out there. Unfortunately, the fact is that the game hasn't performed as expected. The development team has worked hard to improve the game since launch, but the game never achieved the player population we hoped for.

So it is with regret that we must announce that Tabula Rasa will end live service on February 28, 2009.

Before we end the service, we'll make Tabula Rasa servers free to play starting on January 10, 2009.

We can assure you that through the next couple of months we'll be doing some really fun things in Tabula Rasa, and we plan to make staying on a little longer worth your while. For more details about what we are doing for Tabula Rasa players, please click here.

I called it almost down to the day. It's sad the game could have been a contender but looking at the DVD that came with the CE you knew that the people developing it did not belive in the product, say what you will about games like WAR, LOTRO, and even WoW but you can tell anytime you see a video of the developers they truly belive in what they are doing. I guess we can place Richard Garriott in the Hall of Shame next To David Bowman Ken Troop, and Julio Torres.

RIP Tabula Rasa.

Its a shame, it was a fun game imo.

Much like auto assault, i hate to see games like these get closed down.

I didn't Play Tabula Rasa, but I did play auto assault. it was awful.

Well, I guess Richard Garriott is laughing all the way to the bank.

The really kick int he nuts to the community, besides the shutdown announcement, is the fact they are going to continue to collect subs until 10 Jan '09. Freakin turn the sub fees off for your fan base now you fuckers

One thing I will say from my experience playing Tabula Rasa is that the devs seemed a good bunch. This seemed inevitable though.

What about the get to earth theme ? what about me getting to 50 finally? the get to earth stuff is fecking awesome ffs.

Bah really to hate to see this game go it has/had really potential.

sucks for those that liked the game, I didnt get into the game after i beta tested it i thought it had some nice ideas and combat was fairly fun.

I thought the game was a blast to play, but I guess it had a very small population, much like Auto Assault. If it wasn't for my really bad wireless internet(off a water tower, yay!) I would most likely would of been playing it the last 6-8 months. It's a shame NCSoft has had to close two MMO's in the last year and a half. 

I can only hope they don't give up so easy on their future products, such as Aion.
