Since 2004 i was actively posting on this forum.
I have been banned many times for my rants.
I Waited and experience many MMOs launch , sparkle and fall.
I Purchased and played every AA title MMO out in last 6 years.
I seen most of active posters here come and dissapear.

I did rant about MMOs heading in wrong direction...but rant is over now.

4 years wack'a'mole game is the only MMO that is actually massively played. And all other balance on brink of closing. And they deserve it.

All they did is to copy. And if you copy something - you should do it better than original...or whats the point?

I have seen hopes rise , waiting for the good thing - AOC ... fabled Vanguard. At least these games looked good in our minds before they released..right ?

But now, there are no hopes even...

What ever  AA title allready in production - is clear WOW clone , or just instanced bonanza , or both ..

Heck, newcomers to MMO dig it ! They dont even know it could be different.

And economic crisis right now pretty much slayed any other game planned production.

Tabula Rasa shutting down - after mere 1 year !!!! And truth to be told - it was not that bad game at all.

So what now?

Clearly next two years will be grim.

Not many titles comming out. And what is - looks very poor.

Maybe we will see fabled Darkfall ? I am not much into full PVP , but it might be interesting...

Except of this - its pretty much BUST for MMO's until ....2012

So I find myself visiting this site less and less , posting less and less.

I dont play any MMO right now, nor do I imagine I will next year.

I miss it, but what can you do.

Maybe a surprise will come? A saviour ?

But right now, i just dont care about MMO anymore

i am amazed they let you keep that name for all this time honestly  (as opposed to making a new 1 every weekend). i understand your misery and honestly there is nothing here to see anyways, but you know that.

this site is for nothing but hype and flame, anyone serious about this goes to other sites (tentonhammer/gamasutra).

you are 1 entertaining freak. and over the years i laughed alot, and i kinda hate you...in a good way.

luckily offline games can offer quality and innovation online games will never achieve, so have fun with em.

2012 doesnt even look that good to me really, i think without mass social revolution we are going to stick in this rutt forever.

on a side note i always had you pegged for a ramones fan.

The days of Ultima Online and all that stuff, everquest 1 (lol) is over.

The time is now ours, and we should be catered for hazah !

We want instant gratification.

We want games that are easy to jump into.

We don't want to have to think or read lots of text, we want to kill and maim!

MORTAL KOMBAT !!!!

Fallen earth, Jumpgate Evolution, WELL Online, APB, Mortal Online, Darkfall (you already listed it)

Others that will at least include unique advancement:

Champions Online, DC Universe

Older games to play:

EVE Online

I'm pretty excited. The Indie titles are taking big leaps away from WoW clone I think. Just dont expect a big publisher like EA to take a risk anytime though. Sony might with The Agency / DCU. Ah but those will be heavily instanced

I've said it before, but following MMOs through development is almost always more entertaining than actually playing the MMO.  Cynical?  Yes.  However, MMOs consistantly promise MUCH more than they can ever deliver.  They promise some thing new and exciting and big and immersive...yet, time after time they just churn out the same crap with a new skin.

I've been some what positive about the future of MMOs, but right now I don't see it.  The only chance for any thing interesting on the horizon would be if one of the small/indie titles could pull it off.  But, thats a VERY big "if".  It will be at least 3-4 years before we have a chance of seeing a AAA game that breaks the mold.  It's just not going to happen any time soon.

Kinda true, since I believe the next big, BIG AAA title will be the next gen mmo from Blizzard which will be out in 2011-2012 i guess. Hence , I do hope that Aion will be the game which I will stick with it for a very long time since I am somehow a causal player.

So beside Aion, from my point of view , I am agree with what you have said.

Only game im interested in atm is Aion. Thats the game I'm hoping will do good. Sure it shares a lot of similarities with WoW, but it I just hope it can do it better. So far there are many things there that I prefer over WoW. I really hope Aion does well.

On a side note, I'm partially monitoring Darkfall. Especially since the community wide epiphany that it just may not be vaporware and has decent graphics.

i have no pity for people who believe hype from games like AOC and WAR, i hope every one of you leave this site and genre and never come back until you learn not to listen to them and judge the game on your own when it releases.
