I believe Age of Conan should have been released in late 2008 and Warhammer should have been released on May of 2008.

It was obvious that Warhammer was a failure for the get go, but Age of Conan had potential beyond reason.

Why didn't they wait, I mean right now, DX10 is coming out, the PvP update, more quests, more end game. This game is doing quite well, I mean we all know this game was designed for PvP, then why is it that it wasn't at release? I mean yes, they released an unfinished game, but it was actually a good game.

With Age of Conan, I had so much fun with the quests and the classes. It was something NEW! The graphics were great, DX10. I had fun till the end, where the end game dried up.

With Warhammer, I was bored till at level 25, duuuh, what a dumb game

Age of  Conan....when it hits Xbox 360 it will have it's second chance, GO CONAN!!! W00t! W00t!

Dead on...if you switch your tghoughts on WAR and AOC. AOC has  a long way to go before its as far aong as WAR IMO. And thats taking the FC CS fiasco out of the equation.

If you compare AOC to WAR from release to lets say month one or two there is no comparrison.

Let me put it this way. I love the Conan IP and know nothing about Warhammers lore etc but I see myself continuing to play War

*disclaimer because the WAR haters will come in droves

WAR fits ME. I have options and I am on a good server. At level one I can jump into PvP. Currently I can do a little 15 minute scenario, there is usually some RvR at the usual busy times or go do some PQ's for gear etc.  I dont care about leveling as that comes as a product of me having fun. Again I am a little burned out on grinding so for me a game with options like the above suits my current mindset.

And if nothing else I roll destro and follow around those cute little WE as the strut around with those little tight hottie gym rat bodies, lol

I dont hate AOC and I did love my class, It was just so poorly done and so many lies were told that I find it distateful I am a SWG refugee so I am  a little sensitive to uncaring companies. If FC ever offers a free trial and management shows that they have better judgement I MIGHT try it again but my standards will be much higher than they were at release.

There's basically only a few reasons why they figured it would be best to release early: 1.) Financing issues such as running out of development funds and pressure from financers, 2.) Playerbase rage as a result of the pushback, 3.) Poor planning / management, 4.) Dependance on box sales, 5.) Their marketting endeavours would be enough to cover it up a little.

Those are the main reasons I can think of as to why they released the game unfinished, a little of all I think made that decision.

Also positive feedback from beta must have been one of the reason why they felt they could launch an unfinished game. What they failed to realize was that in beta there are 100 times more "fanbois" than in general public.

Age of Conan is one of the biggest "what if.." -mysteries in MMO world. What if they had launched in January 2009? AoC could have been huge. Now it's doomed to being an average niche game.

I also agree that unfinished games shouldn't be released in the first place. What's the point of this thread anyway... beats me

I'm sure FC realizes this about their own game now, but what baffles me is that they did not realize this within their own game well before release. Are they that poor at business practice to not see how much more beneficial it would have been if they had waited? That is why I question this company. There's really only two options I see; it's either the company really had no choice or the company is out of their minds and has no common business sense.

Surely they should have seen that, in the long run, if they held back their launch by 6 months it would have been enough to make this game a solid hit. The sad thing is though, I suspect that they really didn't realize this as it is a pattern that has backtracked to countless of other MMOs recently launched, Vanguard for one prime example. Are all of these companies only thinking of the best way to be successful in the present and not compensating the future?

It's quite saddening for this game, really. It will be able to survive, without a doubt, but it has absolutely no hope of becoming what it could have been. I hope for their sake that the only reason they launched so early was because they were in a dead end with no other options.

What baffles me is how FCKing well made Ymirs Pass is made. Try and baffle your way into the game for an update before preacing experttalk!
