So I'm considering purchasing WotLK and re-subscribing to WoW but I'm not sure if it's really worth it. I've played since launch and have probably quit and restarted a million times (not literally). It's been a few months since I last played and I am getting that urge to play again. What I'm trying to figure out is if the new additions to the game are worth me spending the near 60 bucks to get going again.

I'm also considering playing RoM instead but I've heard mixed reviews from that and mainly postive reviews for WotLK. Personally I thought TBC was quite stupid and didn't follow the original storyline. Sure, the orcs came from Draenor but the Draenei were an entirely new idea pulled directly from someone's ass. It wasn't keeping with the original lore but rather adding some new and completely different crap (which for some is a great thing). I didn't like the way everything revolved around crystals and demons and all that other BS.

WotLK seems to go back to the original lore and continue where we left off from the original WoW. Fighting Arthas' legions of Scourge. Fuck the Burning Legion, they're nothing but pansies. Personally, I don't even care about the Death Knight class. I'm more interested in the actual story. Raiding, well, been there and done that-might as well go with the flow and do it again. Nothing says "I have no life but I pwn" like top tier armor and weapons.

So, in conclusion I would like some solid answers from fan-boys/girls and haters alike. I will say that extremely biased opinions are not desired because they're usually filled with flames. Just keep it straight to the point and don't beat around the bush. I know there are a lot of noobs playing WoW, but noobs don't get anywhere-even in WoW.

I'm guessing nobody has anything to say so I suppose I will have to take a chance and just go ahead and buy it. Thanks for nothing?

Well, you're pretty vague as to what you want answered, maybe if you could be a bit more specific?

Anyways, WotLK seems to be on the right track lore wise. None of that space donkey bullshit that they had with the burning crusade. I'm not that big into warcraft lore but so far I much prefer the quests/enviroments in WotLK. Everything seems a lot darker/moodier and I think they did well to convey an atmosphere that reflects the story.

Not much of the games fundamentals seem to have changed, if you played tbc you know what to expect. Quest till level 80 and rerun dungeons/heroics for gear and raid. Blizzard have added a few new additions such as player controlled vechiles and the "oRvR" area wintergrasp and while fun at first feel somewhat gimmicky and are a mild distraction. On a side note, the music is suberb. I will give credit where due and there doesn't seem to be a bad soundtrack in all of northrend.

To be honest I'm a little dissapointed that the main raid content available is recycled and after progressing through the game only to fight "generic dragon boss 200" you seem to become a bit dissilusioned. I think the game has lost a bit of its "wow" factor to be honest but that's only natural in a game that's been out so long.

In conclusion, yeah it's warcraft... you know what to expect by now. The expansion's great and I have little doubt that this will be Blizzards best content yet. Who knows, it may revitalise your interest in WoW. However, it's not going to convert a WoW hater and people going in expecting some kind of mmorpg revolution will be sorely dissapointed.

I'd say it's probably worth a shot.

I had to buy 2 copys wife loves WOW.  I float around to several online and offline games. I have played in new area about 2-3 hours on and off. The thing that has been impressing me more than anything else is the quests. They are at least trying to get away from kill x amount of this and being a bit more creative in the quests. You can tell they put alot of time and effort in trying to make them more enjoyable and funny.

In my personal opinion this expansion is alot better than Burning Crusade. As someone else mentioned, the music is fantastic. They still have the kill "X" and bring me "Y" mechaninc in quests, but it dosent feel as tedious doing them as the presentation has been top notch. You'll see alot more epic qst chains this time round with the emphasis being on storytelling. The Wrathgate and Zuldrak chains come to mind.

The phasing mechanic has been used really well and is quite apparant in the deathknight starting area which is yet another epic quest line, which really must be experienced wether or not you want to play a deathknight.

The instances are alot shorter in length this time round and its possible to clear 2 of them on a week night. Personally i couldnt care less if they copied/refined things pioneered by other MMOs. Let the fanboys and haters waste their time argueing over that. I just want to have an enjoyable gaming experience and i can say, with full confidence, that iam having an absolute blast playing WotLK.

Feminism is the radical notion that women are people.

The quests in Northrend, and for the Death Knight area, are more interesting than the older quests. Not sure how I can explain it all, but a lot of them suck you into a story, have interesting mini game like things, have in game cut scenes, and there are a lot less kill X quests. I was also in beta and I enjoyed raiding Naxx and the other new raiding content (didn't raid pre-TBC so naxx was new to me) and I can't wait to get to level 80 and raid it again, and get back to lake wintergrasp  (but I'm in no rush because I play at my own pace

I played wow up to 60 and in truth got tired of the raid game of doing the same raid over 40-50 times to get a item drop, but i wouldn't consider myself a hater. I would say i don't exactly see what blizard has done in the expansion to warrant a full game fee. No new races, only what 25 levels of a new class (the deathknight) and a lift of the level cap by 10 levels?

IMO WoW was fun for a bit but i just still haven't seen anything from bliz recently to warrent coming back
