I thought you were able to choose the outfit you wanted when first creating a character in SotNW. When and why was this changed?

Not sure, doesn't really matter as you level up and make some $ you can buy just about any costume.

=] and it also makes less clones of each badass costume, lol.

Was changed a long, long time ago, about 3 weeks after I started playing, in the 2.4 patch back in late January.

As to why, because the old way caused problems with something or other. So they had to ditch it.

They actually offered replacement costumes (wearable) to those that lost them.
