Before WOW, there were MMORPG''s. After WOW there were online solo single RPG''s.

"Left for Dead"

Been playing this game since most of the MMO's suck.

What I find surprising is that in-game cameraderie is greater in this game than in most MMO's that are out.  You are in a group of 4 other online players fighting for survival in a world overrun by zombies.

In contrast, in WOW, you are soloing a chain of mindless quests.

No go compare.

There is some element, fear of dying and dependency upon others for mutual survival, that makes this game more alive than many MMO's out there.

Dev's, take a cue here.

I was contemplating what game to buy next. I've lost faith in MMOs for... oh... a few months haha. I always come back :-P

I was looking at Left For Dead, the new Call of Duty and maybe Far Cry 2 or the Crysis expansion / sequel / whatever-it-is

I think I might go with Left For Dead ;-)

MMOs played (In order of how much I've liked them): Star Wars Galaxies, Warhammer Online, City of Villains / Heroes, World of Warcraft, Age of Conan, Guild Wars, Tabula Rasa, Anarchy Online, Ryzom, Final Fantasy XI, Matrix Online, RF Online, Rappelz, Hero Online, Roma Victor

I've been playing it for about an hour, I'm not sure it's going to interest me for very long.  It's a bit too simplistic, just generic shooting.

It is very well made though, can't fault the devs.

I'll have to try it a bit more.

How convenient for you to forget wow's raiding end-game which forces you to raid to progress.  Yet you call wow a solo game.

Are you playing with friends or using a mic? that's the only way I found it fun, it really does add to the experience

Oh and forgot to add, OP i completely agree, which is why I hope to god that darkfall releases well.

I know this is a bit off topic, but does the $49.99 include tax? I have a $50 visa gift card I want to use on something <.<

OP: Looking for a game for my 10 year old daughter. She wants to play hello kitty online, but are there any alterantives?

PRE-CU STILL LIVES!

playing Left 4 Dead myself lately, and REALLY having fun. It can be simple, but higher difficulties really require some tactics and good teamwork.

Certainly more exciting than anything we've seen from the MMO industry lately.

I remember back in 1999, folks kept asking me if I was stockpiling food. I always answered, "No, I'm stockpiling ammo and making a list of people who are stockpiling food"

Been hearing a lot of good stuff about that game.  Will have to pick it up at some point.

Pencilrick:  Don't want to de-rail your thread, but you reminded of some thing.  I'd love to see a PvE-only MMO with great mob AI and aggressive mob factions.  Some thing challenging that really pushes the players to band together.

I hear you.  I think this has been in demand for at least some niche of the gamer population for years.  Unfortunately, attempts at this have failed mostly due to implementation falling short.

But when the day comes that dev's create such a game with the polish of WOW and the elements of other games that worked well in the past, I'll be logging in.
