Can't see why you think WAR would fail after being out for only 2 months. I'm sure it's the second biggest western mmo on the market atm and most people I play it with seem to be enjoying it still. I've played WoW for years and had more fun in the 2months of playing WAR than over a year of WoW.

It's simple if you like PvP play WAR. It's easily the best PvP mmorpg on the market at the moment.

It is not, Guildwars is the second biggest western MMO. Why not check the X-fire statistic for that:

Guild Wars 22548 #9 ArenaNet NCsoft

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning 15620 #15 EA Mythic EA Games

As you can see have Guildwars a lot of more hours, it have also sold almost 5 milllions retailboxes.

If we just count X-fire statistic we have the list:

1- Wow

2. Guildwars

3. WAR

4. LOTRO

5 Eve online

6. Age of Conan

7. SWG

8. EQ2.

Now, this statistic is a bit unfair when you compare PvE and PvP games since more PvPers than PvEers use X-fire. It doesn't really matter in this case however since both WAR and Guildwars have many PvP players, I would actually believe that WAR have bigger % than GW.

Still as we see here are WAR doing OK, not great but it is far from a failure yet. It do still drop a little though so Mythic need to turn the trend. But I wouldn't really call any game on this list a failure, they are the biggest western MMOs out there.

Seriously who cares what crossfire says. I have loads of friends that play MMO's and none of them even know what crossfire is :D. Shows how accurate it is. I didn't even know what it was til I came to this website.

The way things are going... WAR is pretty much going to fail... hard. It had good population to start with... but imo, it was released far too early and people have simply buggered off to other MMORPGs that are more balanced/polished.

However, bugs/imbalance/unppolishness aside... the MAIN problems i see here with WAR that NEED to be FIXED SOON are:

1. Population - there are too many servers and they need to be merged

2. Social aspects - we need item linking NOW and we need duelling NOW, as well as more emotes

3. More responsive combat - enough said.

4. Some kind of renovation of the keep/battle field objective system. Frankly, PVEing undefended keeps and BOs all day isn't my idea of fun... and i happen to be on the most populated EU server. Even IF there isn't some kind of increased incentive for defending, at least make the PVE part more interesting (e.g. introduce a more complex mini game for Rams, instead of just a 'click on the line' game.......)

5. General bugs... especially the obvious, simple ones e.g. the dismounting bug. I mean COMMON! HOW HARD IS IT TO FIX?

6. Make it easier to lock zones, and dont have Serpent's passage on the front all the time - or introduce a SINGLE QUEST for ALL the scenarios.

So yeah, coming from a former WAR fanboy, here are my thoughts. These issues really need to be addressed, otherwise this will  be an empty game within a very short period of time. I mean, the biggest, bestest guild on destruction side on our server all just left for another game recently... they were Server Police of Eltharion.

Fail? Nope, although I may not be a subscriber for much longer.  I suspect that it will sit in a state of mediocrity for some time.  Though, what else is there to expect really?  Nothing stellar can really ever come about as long as games stick to the middle ground.

  • "bugs" and class balance is NOT the problem and 1.0.6 isn't the fix.

Server population is the problem. They are too low. The other complaints I hear sound like hardcore gamers talking about CC and class balance. That isn't the problem... population is.

Population is correct. That's why I quit. No one was in the world, and by t3 scenarios were only happening once an hour. I can't play a PvP/RvR MMO with no damn people around.

They were too slow to merge servers, and its cost them big, imo.

WAR will do fine. It will be around for years, not months. DaoC is a classic exapmle of why this scenario will never happen. If it really gets bad EA will disband from Mythic and allow them to do the servers on there own. But that is a last resort option, and even that won't happen. I love these judgement day threads though. People with some awful vengence thinking they are some psychic. Heres a good one:

"OMG, World of Warcraft is going free to play, it's so OVER! I give it 3 days!"

Wouldn't that be funny if it was true though, f2p WoW, count me in!
