Darkfall

On top of Mount and Blade,if youre looking for darkfall esque combat style games,try these out. Both are HL2 mods so youll need a valve game to run them such as HL2,TF2 or CS.

First of all,Age of Chivalry.Id highly recommend this mod to anyone who waiting for darkfall. Its a HL2 mod that puts you in control of various medievil classes,such as heavy armour wearing Knights,speedy Footmen and ranged classes such as crossbowmen and archers.

its objective based,though it does still have a scoreboard. Objectives are usually multi-tier,such as assaulting a castle and then having other objectives inside it,or defending a certain point. Theres lots of weapons to choose from,each with several blow types. It features manual blocking and parrying,a stamina system and health bar. You can also get lucky and decapitate someone for a one shot kill.

its a slow game and not everyone will enjoy it,but its certainly worth a DL if you want a melee combat type of game.

Fair few people play it,so its not tough to get a game. id also recommend joining the AoC steam group through your groups panel.

Pirates,knights and vikings 2 is another HL2 mod which also has a wide variety of melee and ranged combat. Its much less serious than AoChiv,but fun nonetheless.

Its a 3 realm combat game pitting each of the teams against each other at once to conquer certain objectives. theres only 2 classes per side right now,but more are on the way. The combat is pretty good,and its a bit faster paced than Chivalry. Like Chivalry,theres a variety of weapons/classes and combat types as well as manual blocking and parrying. It features an armour bar as well as a health bar and has pick ups for both.

Again,there is a steam users group you can join.the games not as well populated as Chivalry,but you can usually find 2-3 servers that are full for a decent game.

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic multiplayer is also pretty close to what i'd like DF's combat to be.

I don't understand what this has to do with Darkfall. No one knows what Darkfall will be like because no one outside of Aventurine has played it. Perhaps you could move this discussion to the General Discussion forum?

I hope Darkfall isn't like this. Nobody would pay 14.95 a month for that. For free, sure it's fun for an hour or two here and there, but for a monthly fee just to clickety click hackety hack? No.

Welp, if UO is charging $15.00 a month, I'd have to say this would be well worth it. :)  Yeppity Yep

i seriously hope age of chivalry is not similar to DF combat, that game is terrible.. pirates knights and vikings is fun though
