Should you lose your character if you die in a game? If no why not?

PvP would completely die to all but the hardcore ppl. I enjoy PvP but I'd avoid it if I had a maxed char. However, it could be fun with PvE to a certain extent. |

Unnecessary tedium, you die from lag. You die from being new. Ya die a million times over and as a result you are constantly hitting that character creator screen where you make the exact same character that is just going to die again. I don't mind the concept of sever penalty for death but losing the character altogther is tedious. In the end most players will be less inclined to explore or take risks because it will mean the 14 time they've had to reroll that day just to try and explore the content or enjoy the game. Tedium on that level will drive people away and those that remain will stay huddled in a corner while that few Zerglings out there seek to make them miserable by killing them over and over again until they leave the game. So I answered why not, at least as far as my opinion goes; so return the favor. Why on earth should you lose the character if you die in game. And remember, in a game you have to balance realism with fun. |

My thoughts were that in most games you get plenty of healths or a medic that most players refuse to use. That being the case why not penalize the player by losing there characters |

Yeah, and you should lose your crafting profession if the server's economy goes down hill. And you should get sick when it rains too much in game. And you should have to go to the hospital whenever a murloc (or whatever) throws a spear through you, and have to pay thousands of fake money units to pay for your medical care. That sure would make games more fun, that reality stuff. |

I vote NO for permanent death, after all its a `video game`. As with any other video game, the player should be able to insert coin to continue. |

Cynical? Me? Never. |
I can't believe you ask us "if no, why not?" I think someone should explain the radical notion that after I character dies its gone, rather than us explaining what has been in the RPG genre since its inception. No game could survive that rule. There wouldn't even be much of a life for it, more like a short lived novelty, if you had a special ruleset for it. |
