Big name MMO's done by well known developers and/or companies... all have the same exact issues.  Somehow you make it seem unique to Darkfall...

Or even that its a mystery these things can/do happen.

What game lately launched with all its features in perfect working condition?

The difference is that in most cases we KNOW beforehand that some features were cut. Those games did not run fake betas and the companies behind those games were not AFRAID to let people see the game for themselves. A small developer can get away with a lot of things ... inferior graphics, for example... but one thing that they can NOT get away with is lying and misleading their potential customers.

There aren't as many checks and balances in a small indie company as there are in a larger company so if they can't be trusted now imagine if the game does come out the type of crap they'll be doing and trying to get away with.

Cynical? Me? Never.

Nah, DF isn't the biggest joke. IMO, Mourning or D&L hold that. At least DF has the wherewithal not to release, and not to charge money for pre-release boxes.

It doesn't matter what they do at the moment, nobody will be judging them on what they did pre release once the game comes out, they be judging on how good the game is and whether they are having any problems.

Within 24 hrs of it releasing or maybe even just before release nobody will even be commenting on what they did pre release, it will be totally irrelevant.  You won't ever hear about it again except maybe in reference to other companies developments.

Only a very small number of deluded people think that missing release dates is lying even if it goes on for years.

Depends.

I agree about the missing release dates part.  Anyone still following DarkFall can't be THAT concerned about release dates.  I mean come on... we started hearing about DarkFall coming out BEFORE SWG, WoW, and EQ2.   If we are still here now... the release date isn't going to be that big of a deal.

IF the game is good and stable, none of the quotes below will matter.  IF the game is a terrible mess, none of the quotes below will matter either.

However, IF the game is a coin flip.  Meaning some think the game is good and it has potential, and others think the game is a POS... THEN these quotes will be used time and time again.  Seen it too many times with every other MMO for it to not be the case here.

Some quotes that might come back to haunt Tasos:

"The game will be ready for release"

"So our side of things (meaning the development end) will be ready. "

"We’ve been enabling features gradually and we’re to the point where most are enabled."

"Our goal during this testing phase is that the important things work perfectly as we move all the way down to the polish during the subsequent testing phases."

"The game had always been in a state to be run in its entirety..."

"We could have easilly had it running full featured if this was a railroad game, but it’s not."

"We will be enabling a lot of the features we currently have disabled"

"On progress, there are no major problems to report, some minor delays maybe here and there which don’t affect our timeline."

"It's because there's no way we'll miss a release date and we're not going to just set a date as a goal, and either postpone or be forced to release something unfinished. "

"We resolve to stick with our release date because we know how people tend to plan around this as far as organization, time and hardware goes when they're looking to make a commitment to an MMORPG, especially a competitive one like Darkfall."

"Darkfall is feature complete"

Is "Darkfall" the biggest joke in the MMO Industry?

Ummm.. 1) We don't know it's real. 2) Don't it have to be released in order to be in an "industry". 3) Yes, it is a joke.
