Beware of Greeks bearing gifts. (Jan 22nd)

Hey there is a new guild interview over at IGN AoC Vault : conanvault.ign.com/View.php

It is infact the 'Acolytes' :)

It offers some insight from the leaders (Redruum's) perspective as to whats going on in Cimmeria Server for those thinking of starting up a character there.

Here is a snippet:

The Cimmeria server has seen its fair share of drama. Which guilds would you say have been the center of most of the controversies?

Personally this is why I love MMO's. Drama can really immerse you into the world that we all play in. People see drama as a negative thing most of the time in an MMO community, but what it is actually doing is creating a community for that MMO world that everyone logs into each night and plays. If every guild that logged in each night was friends and there were no enemies then that would definately be a very boring MMO, especially one revolving around PVP. PVP, sieges, enemies, allies, these are all things that mold an MMO community. I don't have any characters on any other servers so the Cimmerian server is the only one I can judge. I do have to say it is a very active community as you can tell by the official AoC forums and if you were to log in each night on Cimmeria. There has definately been guild drama over the past few months on Cimmeria. The first couple that come to mind is Know Thyself and Anvil of Crom. There was an interview done with Know Thyself's leader which was a great read, but shortly after that interview we sieged their battlekeep and destroyed their keep. Over the next few days their leader quit and the rest of their members agreed that if they would give one last stand of their keep and if they lost they would fold. Sure enough they lost and then they folded. Another good guild drama as of late was the Anvil of Crom. Of course I don't have any inside information and can only go off of what others tell me, but the rumor was Imperium offered the two leaders of Anvil of Crom money to lose their pvp keep so Imperium could own one. Sure enough in the beginning of the pvp siege of Anvil of Crom and Imperium the two leaders of Anvil of Crom started guild kicking each members in Anvil of Crom one by one during the pvp battlekeep siege! Needless to say those that were removed have no reformed under a new name, but there is no doubt there is always some sort of guild drama happening on Cimmeria.

In your opinion, which are the Top 5 guilds on the Cimmeria server?

This is a great question. For overall including PVP/PVE/RP I would have to say Acolytes, Legion of Flames, Snowhawk Clan, Circle of Iron, and Death and Debauchery. I know this may sound biased, but I really do believe that us Acolytes are the top PVP and PVE force on the Cimmeria server. On the PVE side We have gotten 4 server firsts in the past two months in the Black Ring Citadel and are in the top 4 PVE raiding guilds in all the North American servers. We are also one building away from completing our Tier 3 PVE city. Circle of Iron has really come along as more of a PVE force lately but is now in the Black Ring Citadel as a guild and have taken down Excorant for their first time a few days ago, but they do have the numbers within their guild to put forth a decent pvp front if need be. On the PVP side of things us Acolytes are still on our conquest to take down every PVP battlekeep at least once and we are only two away from achieving that goal. We can also be found in Khashetta on nights that we are not PVE'ing. Even after PVE raids we can usually manage to get enough people to put forth a good force in Khashetta to crack some skulls. Legion of Flames and Snowhawk clan are about as close as you can get to being in the same guild without being in the same guild. Due to Snowhawks lore and backstories it is not possible for anyone but Cimmerian's to join their guild. These two guilds work together as much as they can and can definately be a force in PVP so that is why I feel they are number 2 and 3 since they work together, but are technically two seperate guilds. There is no other guild that is as well known for their RP as Death and Debauchery. They may not be seen PVPing or PVEing very often, but they do have an RP night every Tuesday night that is very popular on the Cimmeria server. As you can see naming the Top 5 guilds on the Cimmeria sever is not an easy task and can become very speculative based on who you ask because many guilds bring many good things to the table for a certain part of the game, but in my mind there is only one that can provide every aspect of the game successfully at this point.

There is also a good answer with regards to the PvP system from Redruum as a leader of a large guild offers insight to it in this question ( Which I feel will be interesting for some here)

How do you feel about the new PvP system with consequences? What changes do you think still need to go in place before Age of Conan can win back some of its fallen soldiers?

I think the PVP system with consequences is a step in the right direction. There were a couple bugs when it was first released and still are, but Funcom won the support of many subscribers by resetting those that exploited the new consequence system back to pvp level 1. When a person that is too low for that particular zone is suppose to have a buff on them so people of the right level for that zone can kill them without receiving any murder points, but that is not always working. Personally I think the game is in great shape and to be honest those players that have left might never be satisfied and are always looking for the next greatest MMO that they never find. Especially after the next upcoming patch with a new 80 group instance and an 80 solo instance there is so much to do right now in Age of Conan. If you are into PVP there are always pvp sieges going on and there are usually guilds always looking for more to either help them defend or attack. There are the small 6 vs 6 mini games if you are into those, then there is always world wide pvp that can happen in all zones excapt the major cities. On the PVE side of things there is alot of PVE content with Onyx, Aztel's, the new Ymir's pass for the lower levels, three tier 1 bosses. Then on top of all that there are 7 bosses in Black Ring Citadel which no one on our server have taken all 7 down yet. When I see post's in the official forums that people feel there is no content I just shake my head. My suggestion to those thinking about coming back to the game, join an active guild that does what you are looking to do within the game which should be even easier to do after these server merges.

A good interview with Redruum. Shit I have not even touched one of the Black Ring Citadel Mages yet. How many do we need in a raid to even think to about taking on this challenge?
