My son is 4 years old. He loves playing driving games on my 360 and PS3. So much infact, that I decided to buy him his own 360 for Christmas. It's amazing how smart these little kids can be at such a young age. The way he can navigate menus (can't read yet), and learn to play a game all on his own is incredible. He likes to play Peggle also, and I've come home to my PC sometimes and found that Peggle was running. The kid had to figure out where it was (Steam), and how to run Steam, then find the "Games" menu, and figure out how to run the program. I never showed him. My wife didn't. Who knows how he figured it out. lol Well, I wanted to share with you the newest thing he's accomplished. Tonight we got a babysitter, while my wife and I went out to do some Christmas shopping. I come home, check my email, and find that my son has purchased Gran Turismo Prologue for 40 bucks on my PS3!!! ROFL Yeah, it pisses me off. Yes, it's entirely my fault. But wow, I couldn't stop laughing, nor could I stop being proud of the little twerp for finding out how to do it. I mean, he had to access the Store (keep in mind, he can't read), then find the game somehow, and ultimately figure out how to purchase it! Incredible! |

A lot of kids are getting like that I noticed, but at the age of 4 I was the same way on the Atari and Nintendo. Computers and stuff I learn a lot of things on my own. I know my 3 year old cousin knows some Spanish. I think I was on HOOKED ON PHONICS at that age. There is this 7 year old that comes in and flirts with me at my job (yeah it's weird and I'm 21) and it just seems that she knows a lot more than her age should limit her to. Now I can't recall if I was like that, but I'm sure I can ask my own parents. Now I DO think that with some of the teen shows on, kids might grow up a little faster than usual. I see most of the kids shows already talk about important things that don't have a real lesson to the whole thing. Some people may understand what I mean, but TV can be a hell of a bad thing for kids under 12. LOL your a funny parrent tho. If my dad caught me doing that at such and age I'd get an ass whoopin. You need to start keeping an eye out of him now man. Kids that grow up fast get in trouble the most. Can't wait till I get kids.
EDIT He might can't read, but he can understand a set of words together. Kinda like a 4 year old would know what's..hummm what's Burger King or somthin lol. |

It''s not that I''m afraid to die. It''s just I don''t want to be there when it happens. |
Don't mean to rain on your parade but I would keep a close eye on him from now on. It may be cute when your 4 year old son raids you bank account to buy a video game but I'm wondering if it will be as cute when he's 16. lol |

Are you sure he can't read? You keep saying he can't but how would you know. Maybe he's smart enough to keep it from you but can read and understand what he's reading just fine and you're playing right into his game... litteraly. Either that or it was the babysitter. |

Who knows lol. Maybe he can read a little. Well, actually I know he can a little. He can read and spell his name, yes and no, on and off, etc. Little stuff like that. But then again, he is smart as hell (was operating the dvd player (changing inputs on the tv and receiver for video and audio also) at age 2. He knows places alot. Like he can recognize the various fast food places (burger king, taco bell, etc.), and if we're driving someplace and he wants to go to a different place, and we pass the road that leads to it, he'll start saying, "it's back that way daddy, turn around". It definately wasn't the babysitter. lol That was my mom. I asked her about it today, and she said she noticed he was in the "store", and told him to leave the area, but he replied "I've got to find my racecar game". She knows nothing about video games, computers etc. So I can't blame her for being ignorant of it really. I've since removed online access through my PS3, so he couldn't do this again. But wow, you should have seen all the demos the kid queued up haha. |
