Before WOW, there were MMORPG''s. After WOW there were online solo single RPG''s.

There is some new secret MMO Blizzard has put its top dev's on for about the past three years.  Does anyone know anything at all about it?  Just a hint?

I'm starting to think they don't know themselves yet... just felt that they needed to throw it out there as WoW started to get a few years on the neck... :S

Sorry the codename "Hydra" was the project name for Diablo 3.

Many believe ( as I do to ) that the secret MMO is based on the Starcraft universe, no details point to it.....but 3 years ago blizzard supposedly canned the idea of Starcraft Ghost.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starcraft_Ghost

Not that long ago Blizzard revealed that they had cancelled development on a handful of games over the course of 17 years, Starcraft Ghost was not on the list.

So yeah my belief is that the MMO they are currently working on will be based on the Starcraft universe, namely Starcraft Ghost.

Don't know if you can run it?

I have reason to believe it will be based in another "universe" seperate from any of their existing franchises.

Gives them a clean slate to work from.

"If you stand for nothing, you are more apt to fall for anything."

Well, besides WarCraft, the only Blizzard universes that they have to go off of are Diablo and StarCraft.

I'm hoping it's StarCraft. I've waited 9 years for SCII but an SC MMO would be great!

Knowing Blizzard and the announcement of a 40k MMO, they will rush out a Starcraft MMO so everyone will say that 40k copied Starcraft.

You know there is one famous fantasy game world that has dropped from the face of the earth, but which was very cool about 20 to 30 years ago and challenged Dungeons and Dragons in the paper & pencil arene of gaming during that time.

(Drumroll)

Runequest

Imagine if Blizzard purchased those rights and made a serious and challenging world based upon (oh, heck, I don't even remember what it's called) Runequest's campaign world.

I remember the setting as a rough mercenary environment, not unlike Robert E. Howard's Hyboria (i.e., Conan-like).  And they had some major crossroads city called Trade-town or something in which all the races could meet, blend, and adventure.

And gods were very important in the characters' lives.  Your status and rank in your religion could grant you one-time use spells that were quite formidable.

And the way they honored the metals was nice.  Bronze was cheapest (and could break during combat).  Iron was better, but expensive, and could damage were-creatures who were vulnerable to "pure" metals like silver (or iron).

It was all great; brings back some memories.

Would be very cool.
