Mythic Entertainment has posted the release notes for Game Update 1.0.6 for Warhammer Online.

This is our biggest update yet! It's chock-full of exciting career changes and heralds the debut of the highly anticipated Black Guard and Knight of the Blazing Sun careers. If you've finished the Heavy Metal event and have opened your Heavy Metal Chest, then you will be able to play a Black Guard and Knight of the Blazing Sun when this patch goes live (before anyone else!). For those of you who did not complete the Heavy Metal event, don't fret! You, too, will be able to play these two new careers starting next week.

This update is so massive that we needed to split the notes into two sections. So, without further ado, on with the notes! WAAAGH!!!

* New Careers Released! - With this version we are happy to announce the release of the Empire’s Knight of the Blazing Sun, and the Dark Elf’s Black Guard! These new careers are available early for players who have successfully completed the Heavy Metal Event!

* Mastery Point Refunds – Due to a number of significant changes to many of our careers, we are providing a full Mastery Point refund to certain careers. Players who belong to one of the careers below will need to speak with a Trainer to retrain their Career Mastery:
o Bright Wizard
o Chosen
o Engineer
o Ironbreaker
o Magus
o Shadow Warrior
o Sorcerer
o Squig Herder
o Swordmaster

"Free crack and everybody gets laid."

Well, things look like they are heading in the right direction.  I believe the patching of the combat animation is probably the most important change.  Its great to know that morale abilities are now going to properly work, that was such a frustrating issue in the heat of battle.  Brightwizards and Sorceress are getting the nerf that everybody saw coming.

The insane rooting system is finally being looked at (and probably fixed) with diminishing returns.  Theres a lot of good news, although im not sure if I will return.

I've been noticing for some time now that Mythic seems to lack the professionalism that sets other gaming companies apart.  Players in closed and open beta probably noticed this the most.

-Creating web pages that are supposed to list the status of all servers during the last week of closed beta, yet didn't get updated until after open beta was finished.

-Announcing the perks of those that pre-ordered the collector's edition would have accesss to open beta; then right before open beta begins, announcing that those that pre-ordered the standard edition would also receive access to open beta.

-Allowing only waves of people at a time to enter open beta (which is pretty common, but..) then those that were expecting an invite through one of Mythic's promotions later learning that they would not get an invite.

-People not receiving their codes through promotions with retailers; or worse, having their code given away to the wrong person through error.

-Lack of official forums (Many people are 50/50 on this issue, but I just think it is a way for Mythic to pick and choose who they want to listen to)

I mean hell, just look at the first page of these patch notes under HIGHLIGHTS.

Master Point Refunds mentions all the class that will have a full mastery point refund due to changes in their mastery trees.  Yet they left out Witchhunters, who also are getting their mastery tree points refunded.  Lack of proofreading?  For me personally, its the lack of paying attention to details that makes me think less of Mythic.

I guess that kind of came off as a bash, but I still think the game is good.

Why should I have to complete a quest to play a class that should have been in at launch in the first place.  Lame.  And glad I cancelled.

Maybe think more about class balance and not overhyping one faction over another in your next game.

You didn't have to do anything to play the classes...you just get early access if you completed the event.

You only had to do the quests to have a head-start with them, that's all. In a week's time, everyone can play them so I don't see why you're crying.

Class balance right now isn't much of an issue in my opinion and they're doing all they can to balance the game as much as possible. Of course, if you look at the 1v1 aspect, it's nearly never balanced, but hey, WAR is a team game and it'll remain that way.

I for one am very happy with this patch and see a really bright future for WAR :)
