Hi,
I played he original GW for awhile and then got distracted with some other things. I just reloaded the game last night and I notice many things have changed. For example, there are two chapters I don't own and they can now be purchased online. (Cool!) I also notice that the chapters come in 2 flavors, regular and all skills enabled. So, I don't know how that would work. I have the original Prophesies, if I bought Factions (as an example) and bought it with all skills enabled would that change my original Prophesies? For example, if I created a new Prophesies character can I still create PvE characters that have to earn skills? Can I create Prophesies PvP characters with all skills already unlocked? Also, can I create a Factions PvE character? Thanks for your help! ~e~ |

You can buy the full version (PvE and PvP) of each campaign, or you can buy the PvP version only, with all PvP skills unlocked. The text says (in red even) that Roleplaying (read: PvE) characters are only available with the full campaign.
I bought both (full) campaigns from the online store (I have the original Prophecies cd), it's a heckuva lot easier than going to the store and installing from dvd. As soon as my purchase was validated, I went to the login screen and *poof* I had more character slots and both campaigns were available immediately. |

Sure you can buy online for the convinence of not going to the store and buy it. But buying at a retail store can save you a lot of money as retail stores sell them a lot cheaper than online store. And also...you get to keep the awesome box/art.
Oh yea...if you buy it from the online store, you'll still have to download all the stuff to your computer, which will take...days if you're not using broadband. |

Actually, if you buy from an online retailer, you could save yourself even more than if you bought from a physical store. The in-game store still has the original price tags for each of the campaigns, so I do recommend shopping around a bit before you make your selection. Also, it does not matter from which country you purchase your copy, as you will be able to change the region code when you install the game and set it up. |

Yes, I noticed the online prices were higher by quite a lot for the full versions. Shopping around is definitely recommended there as even online the prices vary quite a lot.
I also noticed that the PvP editions are $39.95 (US) each. Is it safe to say that these PvP editions are available only through arenanet, or are ther online retailers selling these as well? Thanks again for the information! |

The PvP Only editions are *ONLY* available through Arena.Net, and have absolutely NO PvE content. They also remove any kind of grind at all by giving you all of the skills for that chapter. I would strongly recommend against buying any of those as your first game. You really should play through the PvE portion at least a little to better learn the basic controls. |

Thanks. I bought Prophesies when it was first released and played for awhile. Then I was distracted by other stuff for quite awhile, most notably EVE, which, apart from horrendous lag (on my system anyway) when larger PvP engagements ensue, was largely responsible for moving me back to GW for its PvP. I am playing GW again now, more PvP than PvE which I didn't get into all that much. So, now I am trying to decide which PvP edition to purchase, so I am trying to understand the differences in the 3 chapters so I can make the best choice.
