The latest patch has neutered my sound card.  I am wondering if anyone has found a work around.

Basically, to get the X-Fi to enable hardware support for Eve in Vista you copied a dsound.ini and dsound.dll file into the Eve Bin Folder.

They added a file check to eve now that makes it so the game won't launch with extra files in the folders (including those two).  So now I can't have hardware accelerated sound in game.

The number of voices seems so limited now that it is painful to listen to battles.  I'm used to being hit in 20 different directions and returning fire, and being able to hear EVERY shot.  Now I can't.

Any help, maybe an INI setting that increases the number of sounds (my cpu is a 3.0 core duo and can handle the extra load)

Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt

Same thing happened to me :(
