But this is all over a company that simply kept their projects 'secret'. Not to say it's a good thing, not to say I think they're going to succeed, but it's certainly not enough to criticize them for.

I think the main criticism is if they have nothing to show at the time of announcing their games ( they don't even announce the NAME of their games ) after 3 years in development, they are following the lead of Darkfall. And in case you haven't noticed, even the major gamesites have started ridiculing Aventurine and their game Darkfall as nothing but vaporware and a joke

Plain and simple, if they had nothing to show with their announcement, they'd have been alot better off keeping their "secret" until they did.

B.) is developing multiple mmos at one time with no prior experience as a company. Last one to do that was Rapid reality/MMOcenter with The Chronicle, Africa, Phylon, etc. which turned out to be nothing more than a scam.

Don't forget Perpetual Entertainment :)

Too true. Amended my earlier post.

Goozex.com Try it, you'll like it.

Don't have sigs with a cheerleaders butt swinging in it, or the prudes in the Age of Conan forum section of mmorpg.com will demand the mods have it removed.

Actually, it does. MMO developers have to convince us to play their games. We are the ones doing them the favour (giving them our money). The only way to do that is to give the players what they want. Sure, it could work, but usually the word "secret" means that the developers are set on what they've decided and aren't willing to let their future players have a say in the final product. Honda and Ford are well-established companies...these guys aren't. I just don't see these guys being able to create the perfect MMOs without any prior experience in the market if they're not willing to be flexible...

That's the charge of any game designer, not just MMO's... when was the last time you tested or were consulted on a console game?

Even without input games can turn out great, and adversely games can turn out shite with too much input.

When it comes out, see if you like it, don't get all pissy because you can't beta it a year prior to release.

The pen is mightier than the sword if the sword is very short, and the pen is very sharp.

I am  skeptical of a gaming company who has been working on 'Secret Projects' for 3 years. The industry changes yearly (if not monthly) and unless they were doing a LOT of brainstorming or were working with 'beyond cutting edge' technologies, they are already working from 'current' if not behind.

One note about the customer feedback. There is pleanty of that going on with the current MMOs that are coming out. Just because they choose to use research/feedback based on other gaming companies findings (if that is what they did) doesn't make them a 'bad' developer.

( I have to play the devil's advocate when possible.)

I'm not sure you really know what you're talking about there....

....and I'm not going to bother bringing up this age old topic just to explain it to you.  I'd suggest looking into that matter a little before saying that "player feedback" had anything to do with it, though.

Just one look at their website shows this is a dodgy company http://www.kingsisle.com/products.html looks like they just bought a flash template from some place... amtures at best.

Best let this one slip under the carpet.

Umm, maybe to you? I think their site is perfectly fine, and is more on the line of a business site over some of the more "flashy" websites you see for games lately. The site is pretty bare right now but obviously they are planning to add more content to it soon.

just a small edit.. the part of the site you linked doesn't give their whole site a fair chance.

http://www.kingsisle.com/index.html   is a great and well made layout, atleast to me.
