Id have to say having played both GW and AOC, that they are nothing alike.  In fact I hated GW with a passion very boring and i didnt like the abilities.  AOC is much more fun and intuitive.  It actually at least for me, makes grinding seem enjoyable.

Well i didnt like the world in guild wars, which was very restricted and you got so much area loading screens, pvp for me was quiete wired in guild wars and not really traditional like i was used to it.  How does it look like here ?

I can see why people make the similiarities.

During lvl 1-20 the set up is eerily similiar to guildwars. Linear zones, TONS of loading screens (twice as much as when EQ2 first came out) paths you have to follow, unexplorable zones due to invisible walls, single player zones, etc.

I think comparing it to guild wars is a little unfair. That said AoC certainly shares elements with guild wars. From what I played of open beta AoC was very linear like guild wars and heavily instanced. Most people will say that changes when you surpass level 20.

Personally, I quite enjoyed guild wars and wouldn't be too fussed either way.

Edit: I think those who come to AoC expecting another WoW will be sorely dissapointed.

I have not played pvp much yet, I can vouch for the pve section of the game, and that it is amazing.  GW was kind of incomplete for me because of the way they made the world in general.  If GW was a free game Id play it prob but would never pay to purchase it.  AOC has alot of zones, to enter certain places, but these zones are huge.  They mountain ranges, waterfalls Huge keeps...its pretty neat.  As far as the open pvp servers I hear there are some balancing issues with people on low end pc's loading into a zone and others just waiting to camp them.  I am sure that Funcom will address any problems though, they have been good about fixing issues.  Besides they have announce that they were going to use 15% of their total income to sustain AOC.

Well this is exactly what iam not looking for, paths you have to follow like someone takes you on the hand . I thought first that AoC is a traditional mmorpg with a persistant world. Single player zones dont belong to an mmorpg in my opinion. How is pvp, is this also similar to Gw and with only tiny maps or does this game offer siege wars nation vs nation or only just races ?

only 15%?  shit son, that'll be nothing then

And your missing out on Guild Wars, at least you don;t need to pay to play it...   The only P2P thats kept megoing (and I buy all of them from release) is EvE Online, but I didn;t need to buy that, just update with a timecard when my 14 days finished

And I'm sorry, but anyone that says Guild Wars PvP doesn't work really hasn't played it to anything near professional level...  especially as Blizzard ripped nearly every ideafor battlegrounds from WoW

Not to mention that AoC and Funcom have already not impressed me with the FIASCO with my keys/preorder, like others have had issues with too

The games are about 10% similar.

Here's how: You can choose to go to a "solo instance" to finish your "destiny chain".  The end.

That's all there is to it.  Theres even more open world quests 1-20 for the real world than there is destiny quests.

After level 20 your thrown out into the real world(which is nothing like gw) your next destiny is at 30.
