Grinding is the worst idea ever integrated into a game... I would much rather have fun. |
I've gone through a good amount of RPGs, FPSs, and MMOs in the last half year. Every single one of them has only held my interest for about a month, at most. I'm finally to the point where I want to play a game that I can feel immersed in, so I figured Vanguard would be the one. (on a side-note, I'm looking forward to Darkfall even though it'll likely blow ass) So anyways, I took the advice of the forum and ordered Vanguard online for 8 bucks, which is great for more-or-less, 30-day trial of a game. After about 10 hours of installing/updating, expecting an awesome game...I come back to what looks like a primitive version of Anarchy Online. I boosted my graphics up to full, (AA as well) with little improvement. I also had created a human, so I initially had what was "supposed" to be an amazing view, standing on top of a mountain overlooking a valley, lake, and city...But it was all so bland. Really though, for being a game released "last" year, I was expecting graphics to be MUCH better than this. I even could have understood a little worse than a F2P MMO's graphics, but this is unacceptable. And yes, I understand that because the game's so large, they had the make the graphics sub-par (what a kick to the nuts) I will be logging on sometime soon to attempt to dig something out of the game that's fun. But it's just so hard for me to comprehend why a game that requires a monthly payment looks so "unfinished". I'll leave it to you guys to sort out my thoughts, maybe you'll all have some good suggestions, hell maybe some tweak to make the game look less like a wet mop, and more like Guild Wars :)\ Thanks to whoever reads this. |

Lets face it, MMOs today are turning into single player console games with a chat box included. |
Perhaps its your system. While I find the character models to be a bit plastique, and their movements seem a little awkward, the world itself is quite a piece of art.

I'm trying it out now. I read that sometime this week, thanks for bringing it to my attention again. EDIT~ To Arcken, I doubt it's my system, I built it about a year ago and it should last another four :) (It could be, but I've had no problems putting Guild Wars, WoW, and Oblivion on max, or near max settings) |

LOL It worked, I don't feel as if I'm walking through an eight-year old game. Thanks Arctarus...It worked wonders. In case anyone's wondering, I'm on the Seradon server (I believe that's the name) and I'm playing a Ranger named Arquero. Hope to see you guys online :) |

Just be aware that the /setfog command totally removes all shaders in-game.
What you get is a very bland-looking picture imho... |

No-one on these forums is Sephiroth. If you think you are, you need help. |
OP, you might want to try a different setfog command, I personally prefer
/setfog 200000, 400000, 120, 120, 240
you might want to make a bind to do it for you (right click an empty skill box and type in the command) |

Stop telling people to use that 999999 setting, it looks horrible.
/setfog 200000, 400000, 120, 120, 240 OR whatever distances you personally prefer. That 999999 does more damage then good as it removes all fog in the game so you end up with a distorted, plastic looking world. Personally I use /setfog 75000, 400000, 120, 120, 240
