Made a bright Wiz and played him up to lvl 7. Not very far I know but far enough to get general impression.

PvE - it sucks

PvP-  it rocks

combat - slower  than I prefer but I suppose I could get used to it

graphics - a bit better than WoW but they still hurt my eyes. It does fit with the lore though.

music- it fits with the game but I still had Destroyer playing at mega decibles on my surround sound system while playing the game.

performance - I ran everything as high as I could get it and at 1680 x 1050 I never saw anything below 50 on FRAPS even with more PC's than I could count on screen. ( 8400 core duo @ 3.6 MhZ and a Nvidia 260 running  @ 725 core clock and 2350 memory, WinXp and 2 gig performance ram)

stability and bugs - I had no issues myself, others may have had different experiances.

overall - If you are looking for a good PvP game  this is definitly it. Not my cup of tea but I am sure a lot of people will really like it. I will probably not subscribe but that is just I am all caught up in LoTRO at the moment. Maybe next summer I will give WAR another try.

these are just my opinions formed from a limited amount of game time, like em or hate em they are just my opinion. Don't take it personal.

What sucks about PvE? I'm pretty sure the PvE in this game is just as good as any on the market right now and PQ's provide a fun short easy way to get EXP with limited amounts of time.

Mythic have made no secret of the fact that their primary focus is PvP. That isn't to say that PvE isn't included, but from what I've heard about the buggy instances it isn't high on their list of priorities right now.

============================
Playing: WoW, VG:SoH, RoM (Beta)
Played: GW, LOTRO, TR, DDO, AoC, EvE
Waiting for: Darkfall, RoM

But that still doesn't answer the question of what exactly sucks about the WAR PvE. I'm an Elder Tester and have tested the high end PvE. I can't say anything other than that, but I don't know what " buggy instances " you are talking about.

OP, there is a problem with npcs, their pathing, and the infamous "target is not in range" bug. This is usually the cause for most messed up NPC behavior, resulting in some weird pve at times.

Personally i think the pve is decent in WAR, the npcs actually move around and have objectives at times which you do not see in many mmorpgs. Even some of the best pve mmorpgs just have mobs standing around looking stupid and doing nothing. WAR seems to make the mobs you kill have a reason for being there, an objective or a location that fits them. Farmers are farming in a farm. Guards are actually guarding something. Wolves are camping around a cave. Marauders are hiding in the bushes near a road...ect

For me this is far superior to most of the illogical pve we see in other mmorpgs.

I just did not enjoy it. I was not impressed by the mob AI in the least and the combat in PvE seemed slow.Iin PvP the combat speed felt pretty good to me. Like I said in my OP this was just my personal opinion . All of these thing are subjective and no shoe fits every foot etc etc.

Overall I did like the game, just don't have the time to devote to it and the PvP is not worth me leaving loTRO for. When I really get a urge for  PvP I can always log into a FPS and frag for free.

edit for the poster above me. I think they did  a jam up job with the lore and storyline. That is not what I was referring to. Overall the pvE just did not feel "right". Maybe it is just me but that is my honest opinion.
