I started off as a Witch Hunter, and I've only gotten to Rank 6 so far, and like Renown Rank 5 or so. The quests and environment are so much more immersive than any game I've played beforehand. I've played just about every MMO out there, even all the crappy F2P asian ones.

I love that I can do a couple quests, break it up with a RvR Scenario (WoW-like battleground) at the click of an icon, and then pop out back where I clicked that icon to continue on my merry way to the next quest objective. I also like that I can get a repeatable quest every time I go into the scenario if I am around it to get some xp and money.

I've only done one public quest so far, but I was blown away the first time I did it. I was at a church or something and there was dialogue -- you know, the usual, "You cannot win, we are unstoppable!" stuff, then I fought a few waves of enemies with my allies that just happen to wander in whenever, as it's impossible to do alone obviously, even with the NPC help. After the waves of enemies stop, the guy you protect yells to be brave and stand your ground or something, and I hear a noise like something really large was stomping around. I look to the left and a FARKIN' GIANT smashed the trees down right beside me, killed the NPC that we were protecting, and then we have to kill it.  Then you roll for loot, and whoever contributed gets a large or small bonus to the roll depending on ( I assume) the damage done, so say the random roll you got was a 1, and you got a bonus 500 for being one of the best contributor's, then your total score would be 501. I guess the top 6 get loot, but the rest get nothing, which kinda sucks, but hey, for this one at least, you can just wait a couple minutes for the event to reset and try again.

You get xp from kills, and at least the first time you get influence, which you can take to a rally leader and trade in and select from some basic potions, or some mediocre armor, or some 'elite' weapons, which -while wasn't as good as the Renown Rank weapons - was very helpful at the time.

I guess that was chapter 1 of the story as told in the Tome of Knowledge, and as I moved through the area, I came to another town, and the influence bar emptied and switched to Chapter 2 while in that area, so I assume there's another PQ here that I haven't found yet, as I kinda skipped and went right to where it says Chapter 3, but is also where the open world RvR began.

Basically, I went up, got a bunch of quests, some being for the RvR area, such as defeating 10 enemies, and another to defeat 1 Destruction player, another to gather up and save the precious mead and spices and such from the town that is under attack, and one to go scout out the ships that the Destruction players come from, etc.

The defeat 10 enemies one at least was repeatable and worth xp and money I believe. Anyway, you just run outside of this place, and it says you're entering an RvR zone, and to prepare for battle while a 10 second timer counts down before you officially switch to RvR mode to be attacked. Basically, it was a non-stop back and forth of us pushing Destruction back and taking over a couple places, and then they'd regroup and do the same to us. As a Witch Hunter only about level 5, I pretty much just shot people and looked for good opportunities to get in close on some even challenge enemies to take them out. You get xp and renown points from these kills, while in scenario's you only can renown points.

Also, for everything, they boost up your health and damage and stuff to a decent level (in this case, 8) though it still shows you as your normal level, so you can tell who is decent to attack and all that. It's done really well, and I can't wait to get into the more advanced RvR zones later on in the game.

I am level 6 now, and will play more later. I am limiting myself to level 10 or so in the OB so I don't ruin too much before the game launches, but I can tell I'm going to the enjoy this game for quite a while. :)

Meant to add: Character customization at the creation is not the BEST, but it's definitely good... better than many games still. Most of the customization comes from gear and abilities. Between Renown upgrades to boost stats, renown rank gear, PvE quest gear, influence gear, trophies, and the mastery trees, there are a ton of customization options available. Also, there are a TON of titles to choose from.

Since my opinion isn't large enough to create a thread on, I'll use yours.  Hope you don't mind.

The PvE is very very linear, and just a "line" of boring quests.

The PvP is pretty decent.  If you can get past the god awful boring PvE, then you can enjoy yourself a little bit in the PvP.  That's about it.  Bye bye.  ;)

I agree, this game is a blast.  I can clarify a couple of things though:

1)  Sometimes there are even multiple PQs for a chapter.  I believe chapter 2 has two PQs for the Empire starting area.

2)  You get influence for participating in the PQ no matter how many times you do it.  This allows you to fill your bar and get all the Influence rewards.

3)  There are a lot of factors deciding what place you get when rolling for loot, and damage is just a small part.  Damage is accounted for, but so is healing, how many mobs you kill, how much influence you receive (because, as you'll find later on, some PQs don't always require just killing), and anything else you do to help the PQ's stages.

4)  You do get XP in Scenarios for any kills your group gets.  This also satisfies the Kill 10 quest.

5)  Your stats and skills are brought to Rank 8 although you aren't given any new skills, making you viable in any Tier 1 RvR.  I'm guessing it brings you to 18, 28, and 38, for the other tiers.

Glad you're enjoying yourself!  See you on the battlefield!

Oh wow that picture is creepy.  Kind of reminds me of the poster for "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas".

And it's irritating that people can't post their negative opinions about a game without getting replies from people like you.  Like I said, I really can't put my review more clear than that.  It's pretty straight forward.  I didn't think a new thread would be necessary.  Don't get your panties in a wad.  Sheesh.

I just can't understand some people on this forum..

Complaining about PvE..

WHAT EXACTLY ARE YOU COMPLAINING ABOUT??

No one has ever enjoyed the PvE grind, but we enjoy the rewards of it, sense of accomplishment.

Saying the PvE is lacking, is a joke.. The PvE is what you make it.. That goes for ANY game.

Pre NGE SWG PvE was extremely fun.  Going out with your groups into the desert of Tatooine.  Setting up camp and taking a rest with your group members while someone plays their instrument.  Good times.  DAoC PvE was awkwardly entertaining.  UO PvE with my friends and raising the skills were fun.  Doing quests in a straight linear path over and over = Not fun.  Just my opinion.  People can easily enjoy the PvE grind if the game makes it fun.
