Pretty simple one really. So you desided to cut DX10 about month before the release - right ? On the Gamespot open beta there is talk about holding back features like DX10 till launch (like we closed betas belived that ? ) But the question then is.... Why on EARTH did we not get OFFICIAL announchment alot earlier that DX10 was not in? Are you serioulsy expecting us to belive that you were considering pushing it in week before launch ? Untested ? I want to remind you that there are questions here on this forums asking if the 17th of May launch would have DX10. These questions were asked less than week before pre-order launch. I did NOT see any answers..... So why ? Remember that ppl were STILL pre-ordering the game based on the fact that YOU were STILL claiming DX10 would be in the game at launch. Serioulsy... I personally spent quite along time on the closed beta forums and I know exactly what was going on. I even remember you answering posters that were at LEAST asking Funcom to be honest about the state of the game at release. At that point I think everyone was realising that the game would only launch half finished. Well... we had at least a MOUNTAIN to climb in FOD few weeks before launch... If you know what I mean.... So why on earth did you guys at least not show the desency of beeing honest? Many of the ppl that had played Vanguard tried to warn you about the huge backlash you would have if you didn't. And I even remember one dev (can't remember if it was you) saying you would let everyone know about the state of the game. So ... what happened ? Why did you guys go this far in trying to hide the state of the game ? Can it be that you guys still looked at the PC version to be just a balancing beta for the Xbox ? Well... If you think so then let me promise you that alot of the Close beta testers will keep on doing their bit in warning everyone - every single one that is thinking of buying the game - how you PURPOSLY hid what was going on in the game at release. YOu should never be forgiven for that . You can say "sorry" all you like but some things that you have done in the past 5 months should never, ever be forgiven. |

dx10 was in fact a huge disapointment, u know when we were all installing the game that ritual of reading the handbook (quite crappy too) and see those beautifull pictures of DX10 on the box and it says that it would be in the game, they did fool almost a million people, brilliant! but this was not the worst about conan, the worst was that the game became rly rly boring and a pure tank and spank fest... well lesson learned never trust crappy companys on these releases... |

EE claims (I think it is in the mmorpg.com video interview) that they were considering putting DX10 in up until very close to launch, such that the decision to pull it came after the boxes were printed. Given that the game has been live now for several months and DX10 still hasn't made its way into the game I find it very hard to believe that DX10 was anywhere near close to being ready before launch. I think your question is very fair, but sadly one we will never hear an honest answer to. EE and Co will continue to claim it was a last minute decision, while many of us will continue to believe that in fact Funcom made a knowledgable decision that withholding this information for as long as possible would increase box sales.

Any new or returning player to WOW, send me a PM for some help getting started. |
Again, I am not a fanboy. But maybe its simply an issue of 'they gave up". They pushed and pushed to get it in at launch, but then about 2 weeks before launch they gave up and moved those people over to fix the memory leaks for 3 months and progress on dx10 was completely abandoned for the first couple months after launch even though it was fairly close to being finished. Seeing as how many real bugs the game had at launch that needed to be addressed right away, it doesn't make sense for them spending even a minute of time adding a new feature. |

Now - let me remind you what EE said in his last interview. About month before the release ALL work on DX10 was stopped to work on the performance of DX9. So no - it was NOT the plan to launch the game with DX10 and that disission was taken MONTH before launch. |

Also for the lack of feedback that was initially given to the playerbase they have communicated that they are truly sorry about what happened with DirectX 10 but I think there was some confusion about what functional vs functioning meant and I can understand their position because if it was in and not on the box that would have probabl cost someone in the marketing department their job and after all you wouldnt want someone to lose their job over something like that would you??? |
