If you've ever played DAOC , you should remember that 1-3 Guild groups could charge a zerg and come out on top, given proper organization and tactics. Having played WAR extensively, i've notice that MYthic carried this trend over. Player skills, tactics and organization will always beat mindless zerging. Besides, Assjamming the outnumbered side until you've killed 4 for every 1 of yours is the most sattisfying feeling in an MMo, and in my oppinion alot more fun than what you get from 2 completely equal sides in a zerg fight with no end in sight, or skill involved.

Futhermore, I feel that Order will learn alot more than destruction for being an underpopulated realm. Think about it, from people coming from other games like WOW , what skills do they learn in WAR from running around in a giant zerg and killing order? NOTHING, they learn to get greedy, and spam their most damaging skill to try and get the kill. What does Order learn? EVERYTHING, they learn how to play defensively, smartly and most of all they learn the importance of tactics, and organization.

and if you think those arent important things to learn, then wait till ORDER is all grown up, and starts using the skills they've learned to stomp destruction in Tier 4

And because everyone likes  poll:

playing as the under dog

So, wait, is your whole point based on the assumption that Destruction players will grossly outnumber Order players?

EDIT - My vote would be "winning by whatever means necessary" but that's not an option.

If skill and tactics get the job done, then sign me up.  If overwhelming the other side with sheer numbers is an option, I'll take it.  I just don't like to lose.

I'm not entirely sure where you are going with this, but I'll bite because I'm bored at work :)

I actually don't know that zerging will ALWAYS fail. In fact, in can be a tactic all in itself in certain situations. For instance, a diversion away from a greater tactic or formation... But yes, employing tactics will be a lot of fun, if not common place in this mmo. How else are you going to compete? Those who never catch on to this fact, might just end up leaving and rightly so -- as they could quickly become discouraged.

Also, I sincerely doubt EVERY server Order will be outnumbered. Especially if the number of servers tends to increase (game growth). Just as some WoW servers have more Horde for example. But your arguement DOES make me curious as to how server balance will play out over time, not just upon inital release.

Either way -- bottom line is both sides will learn tactics over time, I sincerely doubt population will affect this too much. It may, however, affect what other teams you side with in general.

Add: My vote is missing and it is -- An organized group of undetermined size is my preference.

Yes, when people are forced to change because the little zerg vrs the big zerg losses.  People will eaither quit.  Or develope a scence of team work.

Of course, Zerging wont always fail, it moslty likely will win. which is the reason for using tactics. But as you said, if a zerg is being used as a tactict... well i hardly call it a zerg :P. I guess alot of people consider a large congregation of people a zerg, but imo a zerg is a large congregation WITHOUT leadership.

Google "MMORPGMaker" if you want to make your own MMORPG.

What kind of game is this?

I like balanced sides. Doesn't have to be PERFECTLY balanced, but within 10% would be nice.

well, since i wasnt gifted with the ability to see the future, i have to base it off the open beta player populations.... and its not an assumption, but a fact that Destruction outnumbers order.... though we could see an odd twist... imagine if all the destruction players were only playing destruction in OB cause tehy wanted to save their real order toons for launch.
