Hi, some critical thoughts from a Wow fan (as if the hating  trolls aren't giving us enough food already) :))

- PvP LW zone could be possibly won every time by the same faction.--- >

- Arena in next season will be purely based on personal ratings. --->

You know PvP is fun and great and all: but people hate losing.

Arena is not exactly a motivating factor in WoW just because of this.

every time when somebody enters and says "Arena sucks"  he is actually saying "I almost never win in Arena".(admitting I suck is too hard for most people).

Coming to view a thread on the WAR forums, it appears they have some balancing problems: Chaos wins and takes it all (not always - but most of the time).

This is something of a problem in PvP I think. Blizzard handled the solution rather well with the personal honour and gear in the BG's (individual loss and still get rewarded), but with the Arena ratings not ALL went well.

Thinking now: what if the same goes for that new LW zone.

People who are always losing will not  subscribe to a game for very long I guess.

And I hate that ALL arena gear require personal ratings.

Ok --- > people want to win.

people don't like to lose.

Do people pay subscriptions for a game in which they don't win (arena, PvP games etc ...)

Core problem of PvP play in MMO's I guess.

Functionless Art is Simply Tolerated Vandalism...

Question for people who are playing WotLK.

When you first entered the new area was it like the Outlands? Was there NPC standing around saying, "Welcome to [area], we need your help in the fight. Please kill 6 [snowmob], 8 [snowmob], and gather 12 [herb]?

No totally different, just like in TBC btw.

The first thing you did was flying on an epic mount,

Flying high over the territory you are going to LIVE in.

You know the thing that is replaced in other MMO's with a "loading screen" animation.

I don't understand the backlash against arena rating gear.  The difference between S2 and S4 isn't really that much.  There has to be SOME incentive for people to try and win.  There are already too many people who don't care about winnng.. if they removed arena ratings from gear, then all you would see is "EVERYONE" just playing games and not really even trying to win.    A good team in S2 will be competitive against an average team in S4.... basically the people who have S4 aren't winning because of their gear, they are winning because they are better (which is why they have S4).  People really put the cart/horse in the wrong order.. people don't win because they have the best gear, they have the best gear because they win.  And basically you are wrong.. not ALL the gear requires arena ratings.. just the best stuff.  If a top notch pvp team started over at lvl 1, within a month they would be in S2 and beating teams in S4 until they earn their S4.  If you start giving S4 to everyone, the teams that can't earn it now still aren't going to win any extra matches, they will just be losing in better gear.

AS far as Lake Wintergrasp goes..    if the same faction wins 2 times in a row, the game starts giving buffs to the losing side.. the buffs get a bit better with every loss until they finally win.

Actually one of the first quests you do is a flying mount bombing run, which was not like anything you had ever done before.  Another early quest is where you have to kill boars to feed a felhunter so that it poops out a key  :)    Another quest has you get torches from enemy mobs, go to a forge and light them on fire, then run and throw them and burn down buildings.  Another early quest has you sneak into a village and release a crate full of dancing murlocs that scare the local bad guys  :)

When you get down to basics, there are only like 4 different types of quests you can possible have

1. Kill a boss
2.  Kill a certain number of x mobs (either for kills, or to gather drops)
3.  Gather a certain number of x items from the environment (picking mushrooms etc)
4. Fedex/delivery

The only thing a developer can really do is add something unique to make it appear different.  BC has very few quests where you just mindlessly ' thin out the herd'... which is why Nessingway is such an icon.. he is one of the few NPCs who give you those type of quests.

Blizzard does a great job of adding little mechanisms to quests to hide the fact that they are basically one of the 4 options above.
