I am just going to do a point by point issues for me, as I dont feel like making a full coherent post.

1.) Keep sieges get boring, pretty quickly. There is no strategy, spam ranged from the walls until the door goes down then put tanks at the door and fire ranged through. There is nothing for melee to do at all. Healing gets boring as you jsut healbot from a corner to counteract the enemy ranged.

2.) Population imbalance. It may be fixed in the future but currently Destruction owns Order in numbers which makes a massive difference in open rvr.

3.) crafting, at best its meh.

Now on other end, I do think its a good game for other reasons.

1.) The small scale and scenarios are very well balanced and quite enjoyable.

2.) The classes feel unique compared to their mirrors and the look is quite unique even among the same class.

3.) PQs are very fun, and can be quite a rush(when they are impressive beyond the OMG bad guy spawned over there thing).

4.) Initial rush of keep capturing is awesome, but after an hour of holding or attempting to cap...well you read point one under things I disliked.

IMO I was hoping keeps and capture points would have benefits and whatnot such as Planetside where you could capture nearby points that would have effects on the other capture points. Right now its not but perhaps in the future open RvR can have a purpose beyond getting renown gear.

WAR has tons of potential but right now it needs some polish to make all its aspects shine and I think that in the future it WILL shine. It just needs time.

(My opinions are based on experience in CB, OB, and retail, I have taken most classes to 10-15 and currently my highest is a 21 Warrior Priest)

I'm going to be brutally honest here:  You strike me as the mmorpg loner type.  When you throw a bunch of loners together who fight other loners, you get random zergs that get dull over time.  The key is to join a good guild and be sociable and organized.  That's the ONLY way you can truly get something out of and enjoy Keep Capture that would far surpass any kind of "loner fun" you got out of instances (aka scenarios).

In conclusion, it's the player's own fault for their boredom, not the game.  You're setting yourself up for boredom, son.

Well I'm not a WAR fanboi or a Mythic fan after what DAoC turned into.

I'm playing Order on my server Order seems to have the upper hand atm.  Altho to be honest only a few scenarios are active and for "open rvr" well... If no one is around you might get an alarm clock keep take.

There just in general isn't enough people to do much.

On other servers I'm sure its different... and I agree that having a good active guild can be good.  However, its not going to make up for the "low" population some servers have.

The sad thing is that in 2008 "Crap in a Box" could have won MMO of the year.

in response to number 4)   as another poster has stated you seem more like a solo person.....Keep sieges are fun...but it all depends on the person....

i for one have loved keep sieges since  DAoC   and enjoy them because to some extent they are different everytime....the basics are the same but there are different players doing different things..sure after an hour one might get bored.......but i can guess that most do not since they are still attacking or defending.....

the Pop. depends on the server destruction outnumbers order ATM  but on Red Eye mountain we get recked alot and they put up one good fight....numbers are more of an impact in the lower teirs of game play..just wait a month or two we will see videos of a group ofBWs taking out zergs of destruction....

i agree that their are some problems with WAR..but over all the game is soild and just overall fun....(playing a shamen and we sweep through troll country tonight   OMG and that is only my best experence so far..)

Well, as the others said, to make RvR shine, you need a group of people you enjoy playing with. Was like that in DAoC, will be like that in WAR.

Whether or not you are the "loner" type, obviously matters a lot then. One makes "friends" in a game over time and eventually a pool of people will emerge whom you play with regularly. And then raiding and keep fights are an awful lot of fun.

Obviously, everything gets boring eventually, but that is why I think WAR will do good - the are so many things to do in this game...

Actually I am always big into the community. I am currently in a guild with 84 members and we average about 25 or so on per night.

Most of the keep sieges I have been in have been full war band assualts. Problem is its impossible to do anything unles you are a ranged class. Everyone just lines up on the walls and fires down. If you go outside your splattered. The only real option for alternate defense is to come with a group from behind however most of the time if our entire warband or even half of it left to make an attack from behind there wouldnt be enough to defend the keep from the onslaught at the front door.

I have only experienced tier 2 keep sieges though so perhaps as the keeps get larger there will be more room to manuever and defend differently.

Hmm.. tanks and healers have a huuuge impact in sieges, even before the doors are down. Maybe your realm mates haven't figured out their roles yet?

In defence: Healers can heal THROUGH the doors. A band of a few tanks with 2 healers each can rush out of the door and make total confusion for the ram crew, killing a few and wrecking the engine. In addition you can make surprise flanking attacks using the back door.

In attack: Tanks are the best at using rams. You're not going to get that door down in any reasonable time without a ram. Healers need to keep tanks alive as long as possible, obviously.

Melee DPSers should be roaming the surrounding countryside and ambush any opponents who were unable to res and are trying to get back into the fray.

There's plenty of things to do for everyone during the door-breaking stage of a keep siege. In fact ranged DPS seem to have the dullest time lobbing their shots back and forth.

If you are not a ranged class, there are siege wepons which are easily obtained that can provide non-range classes a way to seriously contribute to the fight.
