WAR (Warhammer Online)

This is the first MMO I've seen where the chat is completely dead. No one is chit chatting like in all the other games and if you ask a question, there is absolutely no chance someone answering. Worst community ever? Or maybe a bugged chat? What do you think?

Ive noticed that too. Most chat I do and see is in guildchat and warband/party chat when i join an open party.

But in PVE I see rarely chat.

I have no idea if this is correct but I heard that there is no zone wide chat.  The area chats are for sections of each zone.  As you move from each section you are n a new chat area.  If this is true it may be a large factor in limiting chat.

I not sure i callit dead but alot of the features allow for alot more quiet chat box.  You dont have to shout looking for group all you have to do is click the open group button and boom you got groups to join.  Also i noticed as a whole it seems to me most people seem to be using a chat program.  Most the guilds use ventrillo or teamspeak.  It just the game features that make alot easy to use.  Although a times i miss the batter in a world chat but it nice to not to see all the really stupid questions and convos that people are to lazy to figureout themselves.

When I played, I know in town I never bother with the chat window since it was nothing but continuos NPC blather filling it up.

I as I always post in these threads, I think it's down to the poor chat system. People just aren't aware of how to make it more user-friendly.

What I do is filter out monstersay and colour the /1 channel a pinkish hue.

1) Chat box is really badly designed with totally absurd color coding and NPC and combat spam which makes any chat disappear before you get to read it.

2) I suspect they haven't got dedicated chat servers on yet... this would explain chat lag and weird zoning issues.

However once you get into an Open Group (tm) or Warband (tm) and there is a lull in action you can get some pretty lively chatting. Imo it is the chat system which is substandard atm that is to blame.

Imo they should really fix chat and implement global channels like /defense /help etc before the majority of population gets into T4. With current com systems it is pretty much impossible to coordinate a realm-wide effort and without it there is no chance you'll ever see a capital siege.

Yeah, that is a bit annoying.

I have struck up quite a few conversations with individuals or in party or scenario party chat.  Otherwise the only other people that send me tells are gold spammers.  I've reported 4 so far, and after a few hours they disappear to be replaced by a new name gold spammer.

Asking for help in regional chat almost seems like an exercise in futility.  Maybe they need a server wide Help chat tab.

I kinda agree with this and other than people having nice conversations with me in tells, global chat seems pretty dead.  Even in PQ groups when I talk no one responds.  It's so weird.

People are busy playing and aren't bothering to read... makes for some craptastic RvR coordination.
