Most people quote, but i shall not!

Well, the topic says it all, i guess:p

I used to play Swg for a while, like maybe a year ago, (more or less).

The game wasn'y terribly good or bad, but it was ok imo.

The reason i picked it up was because of the combination of ground and space combat parts in a single game (owning/pimping ur very own space ship just as you do with your personal avatar himself), as well as some of the cool sci-fi armor/weapons. (Dont really care much for the Star-Wars lore itself)

The MAIN reason i quit was the fact that, whichever planet i travelled to, there were freaking LONG-DEAD player cities,, EVERY-FREAKING WHERE :D.

You know, i set out to explore the VAST-DESETS&DUNES of Tatooine, BUT NO SUCH LUCK!

There were some scary Krayt(?) dragon remnants, and right next to them was the Krayt- Dragon-City!! Hehehe,, but it TOTALLY KILLED THE IMMERSION for me.

I set out to explore yet another planet, BUT EVERYWHERE I GO, i would trespass into VAST-UNOCCUPIED-BORING payer cities.

What about the exploration, what about immersion, the feeling of coming outta the urban areas and experiening the eerie wilderness?

Well, those are the reason i quit (among one more thing, but maybe ill tell it some other time, /clue:SOE:D)

So, please tell me if Tatooine (&co) is STILL LIKE CORUSCANT (IT is NOT supposed to be like that, a huge urban-city-PLANET).

Or its actually like a vast-deset planet like Tatooine??

This won't answer your question, but I think of the player cities as remnants of an ancient civilization that collapsed suddenly.

There are abandoned houses still littering the landscape. You can still find the remains of dead player cities too. A lot of the dead houses were removed during the last housing pack up but there are still more that need to be taken care of. This is on the Intrepid server.

I have characters on the Intrepid server that I have only played for a very short time when new vet trials come out. I can assuredly say that the Intrepid server is DEAD. Dead NPC cities, dead player cities, just a plain dead server.

 Sad really. A constant reminder of the old days.

 I think they should have kept player housing restricted to within a certain radius of main cities. Or made the guild cities underground complexes.

 Or even allow players to live in Jabba's palace or Nym's city. Something to keep people around mission sites. I remember when everyone was doing the Jabba missions. Once they all ran them, the place was deserted.

 Nothing to keep the players around.

I don't understand why they can't do a mass house packup for people who havn't logged in for 6 months. I mean having to place their house down again wont stop people from coming back :\

Well they did do that demolition thing a while back, wasn't very successful seeing a lot of the players that left gave admin rights to pretty much anyone that wanted there lots and when sony said about demolitioning the abandoned houses all those folks just paid the maintenance fees and saved the extra housing they were given from being destroyed.

I'd do a mass house packup for EVERYONE so total reset because the people currently playing will moan about it but they are die hard SWG fans and wont leave anyways, just gets rid of all the old angry vets who don't play anymore who for some reason still subscribe lol.

Your current players are your foundation for future success.

What's interesting is that a lot of vets, myself included, went back into the game just to pack up our structures to allow new players to have some room to build.  Also, SOE did implement something to remove many of the abandoned structures.

Even after these efforts, however, I hear reports of abandoned houses and remnants of forgotten cities dotting the landscape.  Were these structures missed in the clean up, or have they been more recently abandoned?
