I don't know which backpacks you use but most backpacks have different compartments. Even if this was less so in the middle ages, they still used smaller and bigger pouches to order things. This is just a mess.

Just throwing items over each other is just ridiculous and shows lack of detailed UI development.

Those are 2006 screens..........
As I said Darkfall had several graphic updates, since then the graphic has been updated, the new screenshot linked it's the latest incarnation of DF graphic.

No there isn't.

There is no bump mapping on that character. and there is no specular lighting on that character.

 

Sorry champ but you don't have any idea what you're talking about. try here. perhaps you're thinking of WOW or WH, which do not have specular highlighting?

It was like this in UO, it works great.

In this screen you can see that there are also "weight" and "space" bars for the inventory and their capacity will be different for the smaller and bigger packs. Due to that system you can't stack super heavy or super large stuff endlessly in small packs. (like you can put 6 halberds in a small six-slot bag with the slot system). The reason this guy's backpacks were stacked so much was cause he's a alpha tester and probably they have more space and weight capacity than normal players.

Did you actually read my post?

If there is bright white glaring reflections on players even during night time or in low light conditions its going to be rather easy to spot people even at long range and make attempting to hide in shadows and dark places rather pointless.

Considering the potential “IM OVER HERE, YES THE BRIGHT WHITE BITS” problem.

don't be ridiculous, of course it's not like that... those specular highlights are calculated in real-time from light sources in game, so for there to be specular at all, it means there's a light source behind the camera position.

 

here is another example, showing the reflection of the sun off-camera upper left.  

 

the upshot being that mtal armour reflects the light, which obviously has a big impact on the ability to stealth and hide.

Yeah, i really like this way of organizing items actually, i enjoyed it in UO because you can properly organize your items where you want, its just a bit better in my opinion.

Another reason why this guys backpacks are packed could possibly be because he is testing various items etc anyway.

So people say Graphics < Gameplay, and they are complaining about the lighting?
