Well... they are totally different games then "which one will be better?" is a question that is going to be answered according the play style preferences of the players not according the game itself.

To me is like to compare apples and oranges.

Lol I'm not here to recruit anyone.  I tell the truth, if that means recruiting, fine, but if recruiting means bending the truth, then you won't find me doing it.

Yes I read your entire post.  Would have I gotten to the end and pieced together what I did if I had not? And  I think I made it pretty clear why I called you biased, which you never actually addressed.  But I'll put that aside since you are clearly exasperated....

The answer to your core question is yes, DF will offer you to play your character, and it will do so better than EQ if the game delivers on 10% of what it promises.  My best advice is to do minimal homework on the game, such as wikipedia, or the DF website, because I, nor probably anyone here, has the time to explain why DF will offer these things.  The list and explanation is simply too long.  You put us in a very difficult position because your previous MMORPG experience is vastly different from what DF will be and trying to convey it to you will be like trying to convey freedom to a zoo monkey (not trying to offend you with that metaphor).  The short answer though is: absolutely.

try it safwd, only advice i can give you. try it with an open mind... give it at least 3-4 weeks worth before you judge it.

the games you list you have played are quite different. If we have to compare DF to previous mmorpgs, it is probably has most similarities with UO, AC/DT, and SB.

Yes, i believe that is what i am going to have to do.
When i started playing the options were EQ, UO and AC. All my friends at work were playing EQ so that is what i picked and that is probably why i  loved it so much. If they had all been playing UO or AC then im sure things would be different.
I can get used to the skill based concept pretty easily because i do like it. EQ had classess but if you want to use a 2H Sword you didnt just go to the trainer, give him 10 gold, and you were an expert. You picked it up and swung it at an opponent and over time you would get better at it. I always like it that way much better. I hate just paying for a skill and being a master at it.

PVP, especially open PVP, will be harder for me to get used to but im sure that i can handle it.

That's a good attitude.  It's people who never jump in that  never learn to swim.

I guess i am somewhat biased because i did choose to play EQ over UO as my first game. I guess that set my bias but i dont feel that i express myself as biased towards Sandbox or PVP. I actually like the Sandbox concept far more then the linear world we have now. And even EQ was sandbox compared to the arrow pointing of WoW.
And while i am not the PVP fan as most here i have played DAOC, Lineage 2  and the craptastic WoW version of PVP so i have tasted it. And i believe i could adapt to a game that centers on it.

And i have read up a bit on Darkfall and have seen some of the secellent things that the game is supposed to offer.

What i havent seen is the things i mentioned before, which was a pretty short list, spell components, no instant pop up spell advancement, will i have to find quest givers and not just follow the bouncing question mark, the little so call annoying things.

But i will keep looking.

Best games I ever played certainly didn't have good graphics, but many of the shittiest games I ever laid my hands on had.

What amazes me even more is when someone says: the game wont be a success, because it dont have timesinks enough... looool WHAT?!

A MMO that last years always have timesinks. Players have something that they really wants and it takes a long time getting that. Otherwise there will soon be a time when you have done everything and have the best equipment. Many players quit then.

There is not by chanse that raiding works like it does and can be a full time work, that is so the hardcore gamers that spend many hours every day will have a long time to get all the stuff they want. Casual players last longer but they must also have something to aim for. A timesink doesn't have to be an item, a skill or something works as well but once I am max level, have good gear and done all the content I get bored and buy a new game. Think I am the only one.

And yes, I like good graphics, this is 2008 why shouldn't new game have good graphics? It is not the only thing I want in a game but if I look on 2 games and 1 looks good and the other not I need really good reasons to chose the ugly one.

To me it sounds like many devs take the lazy road and give us a crappy looking game and so long as people buying those we will still have them. Why shouldnt my game look as good as Crysis?

Why Reinvent The Wheel?

AION hands down. I have seen alot of game play footage, read about how the Korean are going crazy over the game in the beta and I also read preview post that one of the MMORPG staff made about the game which he also loved it. AION is going to be awesome. As for Darkfall I dont know. People are still going by whats on paper so until I see some solid stuff I cant really say much about it. The one video they showed acutally lowered my hype level on the game. I think this thread should be titled Darkfall vs Rune Of Magic vs Priston Tale 2 because those are the next batch of Free To Play games comming.

Ok, to those SPECIFIC questions, since those are the only ones you want (I thought you were looking for a more general answer):

Yes spell components will be required for many spells.  Some will not, but a great number will require formulas.

No advancement will not be instant pop up.  There are about ten or so spell categories, many require pre'req spells ahead of time, possibly even pre-req skills.  You definitely do not get them "pop-up."  There aren't levels so the only way for them to just pop up would be to start out with all of them, lol.  Yes food will be important, stamina will be pretty big in this game.  Food will not lead to starvation, just a big reduction in character performance, i.e. if someone attacked you and you hadn't eaten in a long time, your stamina would be zero, and you would almost definitely be killed.  The Devs have not given a whole lot of info on quests that I know of, but from what I know the quests that do exist will be very complex and require a degree of luck for the playerbase to even find out about let alone figure out how to solve.
