The kind of people who going to play Aion are the types of people who you wouldn't want your children speaking to. People with japanese anime fetishes, wierdos who have romantic relationships with other wierdos over the internet, furries and other such emotionally retarded deviants. Better for everyone that they all stay in one game imo. |

Aion has a cool concept as far as those go, but in essence its just another asian mmo, no where even close to what DF is promising, and comparing WAR to DF is unfair since WAR is already out.
This poll should have Spellborn, DF, MO, GW2, Star Wars, and Legos with the question "which future mmo will be the best?" I THINK darkfall would win this, not 100%, but anyway it would be more interesting than finding out how many anime free mmo blinded idiots are among us (those who voted aion)

Now this is just plain bad... "Not want you're children speaking to"? Half of the world's population is asian. Korea in and of itself-gaming wise is currently the most "Modern" country in the world. You may not be interested in gaming tournaments that draw hundreds of thousands of people to cheer their favorite players, but there, it is a way of life, and yes, video games have made their way into romantic relationships. Here, a couple might go see a movie, over in korea? You'd visit a "PC baang(club)" is it so wrong or different? And I have many friends who have online relationships, several of which have gotten married, personally I wouldn't call City of Heroes an "anime" game, and yet somehow they managed to form a romantic relationship through it. Japan has pretty much spawned a good 80% of all console games over the past 25 years, and the fact that Legend of Zelda is on the top ten best games ever created list on 90% of all game sites is a testament. I could easily list dozens of hit games originated in japan, and more than from the west. MGS, Devil may Cry, pretty much all fighting games(mortal combat?) Dynasty warriors. The list goes on. You may not like anime, and that's ok. It's an art style that is foreign and doesn't appeal to you, you probably never liked legend of zelda, or final fantasy. What is appealing about Aion's world is the dreamlike state that it exists in. What draws many players in is the immersion, can you feel like you're a part of the world, and if you can, is it a world that you would not mind being part of. Aion isn't designed for hardcore pvpers-its not sandbox, it doesnt have reactionary controls, there is no destructable cities. But it is friendly to those who enjoy character customization. The character creator is one of the best I have ever seen to date- you don't like anime? IT is well within your reach to create a non-anime looking character. Now, I visit the DF forums frequently because it looks like a very interesting, game, and if done correctly could prove to be the next step towards full dynamic world, I still can't stand posts like this. |
