I know many players have stuttering and hitching problems, so I come to you all with some possible solutions.
Solution #1 - Updating your drivers 1) Open the following link http://update.microsoft.com/ 2) Select Custom -----> Hardware Optional 3) If a driver update is available, it will be shown here and you can proceed to update.
- My computer was experiencing some severe stuttering the last few weeks, after updating my drivers the performance has increased ten fold. If you think you are up to date, check for the hell of it.
Solution #2 - Viewing Distance Another way to improve your performance is to reset your viewing distance to the minimum. Cosmetically this will make the environment seem much more foggy, but will not decrease the appearance of textures.
Solution #3 - Common Sense -= Part A =- Clean Up 1) Start Menu -----> Control Panel -----> Add or Remove Programs 2) Check your list for any useless programs or games that you do not use anymore and uninstall. -= Part B =- More Clean Up 1) Start Menu -----> My Computer -----> Local Disk (C:) 2) Right click in the open space -----> Select Properties -----> Disk Cleanup 3) Check all of the boxes and select Ok
Other Solutions - Find a good spyware program such as Windows Defender or just good old Norton Anti-Virus and scan on a regular basis to make sure nothing is out there slowing down your computer. - This is just a myth, but I have heard others say forcing 16x Anti-Aliasing oddly increases performance. - If you play for extented periods of time, try allowing five minutes for a break or maybe a relog. After two or so hours of continuous gameplay the game will start to slow down and develop a mild case of the hiccups. Drink some water.

Honestly, all good advice from above poster but for me it was always just a case of a clean install of Xp via a format. If you know how to go about it the it's always worth the effort. |
