A lot of people have been comparing WoW to McDonalds, but I'm beginning to think it's more like Burger King (perhaps Wendy's). What do you guys think? Is WoW as addictive and bad for you as fast food? Is it worse? Better? Would you rather hang out at McDonalds with your friends and chat, or play WoW with your friends and chat? This will be part of a research paper for class, so feel free to make your own comparisons.

WoW is nothing like McDonalds. The whole fast-food analogy is fundamentally flawed. Fast-food is synonymous with cheap, mediocre, low quality. WoW is a game of the highest quality, raising the bar so high nothing has touched it since 2004, a fact acknowledged by pretty much every other developer on the planet, most recently Bioware, and of course all of the gaming press reviews. It had the highest development budget for any PC game ever. It was made by Blizzard, who are widely considered one of the best game developers on the planet. It is the highest critically reviewed MMORPG on the planet. It is one of the most expensive MMORPGs on the planet. So nothing like McDonalds, that's just an analogy used by people that cannot accept that the game they do not wish to play is enjoyed by so many people. A bit like standing by yourself in the corner at a party, watching everyone else having fun while you brood and pick your nose.
You wanna make an analogy, make one that is relevant. |

Any new or returning player to WOW, send me a PM for some help getting started. |
Yeah, I would really compare WOW to MS Windows. It has a huge market-share advantage and a ton of people hate it, just because it is so successful... and it is somehow 'cool' to be anti-successful. I understand why some people might compare it to fast-food, but the analogy is off because WOW is priced the same as it's competitors. If was was much cheaper than other games, then you could say it is the fast food of the industry. WOW isn't getting it's marketshare by charging less. |

Seriously .. can't say much ... It's probably how I feel right now or like ... I want to play, but I'm not even sure I will be able to get into the party ;) . Having the fun, been out in a corner for too much time ;) |

No, just you. You are the only person comparing WoW to McDonald's. When you fail your paper comparing WoW to McDonald's are you going to come here and make another lame topic about it and blame your failure on WoW? |

I never understood it tbh because you can't play games for convenience, you play them to pass the time. However people only eat at mc donalds because it is fast and convenient, most people are on their lunch break from work and only have the time for that. |
