If the new patch somehow erased every Charater in the game? I remember that happend once with Horizons, yeah they had backups but it was months old and folks lost a lot of irretrevalbe shit, I know Horizons was a nothing game with maybe 500K subs at it's peak...but just imagine the outrage and sheer chaos Blizard would face if that did indeed happen to them...so could Blizzard recover from such a major screw up? /Discuss. |

Well Blizzard would try to make concessions, but given the vindictive nature of WoW players nothing they did would be good enough. Being a Director of information technology I have seen Disaster recovery programs go horribly, horribly wrong (Backup tapes being blank, no back up tapes at all etc) and yes you fire the idiots, but that is small consolation to the sometimes irrecoverable damage that is done. The position I am in now is thanks to a team that screwed up their DRP and was Axed enmass the next day…. I use multiple backups on different platforms that are all offsite, but still there is always that chance that some Admin has been sluffing off on his job for the past few weeks.
