So I see that Risia test server has been updated with the module 8,

I was just wonder if anyone has a DX10 capable machine to test it out and maybe give us some screen shot of the difference and extra info like frame rates and your machine specs. Unfortunately I do not have a DX10 capable OS so i have nothing to show. Also I am curious to know if its just DX10 or DX10.1 since the game is not part of the Nvidia sponsor program. (Lord of the rings is but not DDO officially!)

Thanks in advance.

Hi

With or without DX10 the new starter area looks great, as do the upgrades to the old Goodblade quests

Cool, so you got a chance to fight the wurm?? or do you really just sit back and watch !

Well I am Glade to hear it looks awesome I just resign up for 6 months about 2 weeks ago. I gave up on the other mmo I was trying. I realized I like DDO the most of all its just the right balance for me. I think though its a bonus to have DX10 added since the turbin Engine looks just great in DX9.

See you in game fellow Permadeath.

Awesome!

I have played just about every game and this is one of my all-time favorites. I played it too much and I can't go back. I tried a few times but its just been played out for me, even with the new content. If you've never played it, give it a fair chance. DDO is a good game. It could have been great, but it is still decent.

Looks really nice!!!

I might be back.

Question is there a first person view yet? Having the head of my character in the middle of the screen has been a major annoyance.

Playing this game in a 1st person view that omitted the presnce of your character could very well be disasterous for your party members.  there's too many issues that revolve around the strategic nature of the game that would cause anyone using a strictly 1st person to become a liability.  The main defecientcy for fps stylized play would be the complete inability to see what's moving to flank you or what's already behind you let alone the vast potential faced when encountering traps.

If it's just a personal issue you (deewe) have with seeing a character that's supposed to represent your actions then you're kinda at ends. Just try making a character that you think's looks remotely "cool" and allow it to remain on the screen.  I doubt anyone focuses on their characters as if it were an extension of themselvs other then the positional location that facilitates good tactics.

Best advice for dealing with perspective is zoom in & out as needed to give the best tactical view of the environment.  I never use a single static view since there's too many situations where a different view gives a better view of the locality.

Deewe, do you currently play DDO and only using the furthest zoomed in appeared that looks like you're breathing down the neck of your character, if so, I have a few other questions:  How long have you been playing; What level is your main character; Do you do many Raids?

oh yeah - That DX10 screen shot looks sweet!!  Is there dx10 screen shots showing the difference in how dungeons, characters and spell affects appear?  Please post them in this thread if so.  :D

To be honest I havent been playing since a long time.

I did zoom in and out a lot and as a Cleric as main character I know quite a bit about strategic placement and well keeping the party alive!

I loved my character(s) look even I had a hard time keeping staring at their neck.

In low passageways or narrow corridors and rooms it was an issue to have the head of the character hiding the center of the screen.

I like to enjoy the surrounding in a MMO. Which you can't really do with your character neck in the middle of the screen, even worse when you get close to a place or object you want to inspect. For example when we where just exploring I hid my whole UI.

Once again as a, not so bad, Cleric I was really asked to do raids, so yes I had my share and there where fun.

On top of that I played with my wife and she hated not being able to move like in an FPS. She just can't play in 3rd person view and have a hard time to position her character in that mode. She's mostly lost. That is the reason #2 we left DDO even if we loved the gameplay. Reason #1 was we had not anymore 2-3h in a row to do end level instances.

So in resume I, we, won't be back till there is no first person view in DDO. But the day it's there I'm jumping back!

For now I play Lotro in First and Third person wiew, alas without mouse look toogle :( and WAR.
