For the passed four years Its been a war on the forums fans of WoW, Lotro, EQ2,CoX, AoC, WAR have been going at each other like rabid dogs.

Trolling other games, over hyping, fanboi rage and just juvenile actions have plagued the forums.

Will we as sandbox fans do the same when Darkfall, EarthRise, Fallen Earth, Mortal Online, Crusades and others appear on the scene in the next 1-3 years?

Will we actually give these games a fair chance and try to support them so more companies will release sandbox games down the road? or will it be a flame fest 24/7. Will we try to sway other players away from good sandbox games with bogus reviews? 

I personally Think we as sandbox fans should be happy that these games are going against "whats cool" and actually give these games a fair shot. try to keep these populations high and steer new players toward them so more developers will jump on the sandbox train.

I just hope we don't attack each other like the linear crowd does.

Will sandbox fans Unit to fight the good fight? or go the way of the theme park fans and declare war on the forums? lets hope we can be respectful to eachother and help our gaming community thrive.

Sandbox games in general typically attract a more mature audience than you see with the "theme park" MMOs, partially because of their more serious nature, and partially because of the "create your own content" style of gameplay that gives these games their name.

That's just my experience though, your mileage may vary.

So "its cool" to go against whats "cool". They had a word for that when I was in high school, it was called "Goth". The anti-clique against cliques, just a different end of the spectrum..go too far and you both end up in the same place....anyhow

There are fans right this minute that love Sandbox games that heavily troll the most popular titles. I think it depends more on the person, as opposed to the games they are interested in. Albeit, to a lesser extent I would agree there would be a higher % at least of "mature" or "older" fans of Sandbox games. It doesn't necessarily depict how those fans will act.

Hopefully "Sandbox Fans" (Honestly, if there's one word that's been spammed more lately on these boards....) will fight until they get a quality game they feel worth playing. In the end we're all just trying to get our fix.

At first glance it appears that we're dealing with mindless trolling with the WAR vs AOC vs WoW vs etc crowd.  But upon closer inspection, it's pretty easy to see why people think the new games are crap.  It's because most of them actually are.  :)  I'm no wow fanboi, in fact I haven't played wow in almost two years now.  But I've played pretty much every linear theme park game since wow (vanguard, lotro, WAR, AOC), and all of them are cheap knockoffs of wow.  Sure, they have some newer neat features (which wow promptly copies and places in wow more polished then the competitors), but in the end they are cheap replicas.

When wow is four years old and pretty much any game since then is of lower quality, then I can see why people are at each other's throats.  They actually have good reason to be, no matter how annoying it is.

I'm hoping that a game will come along and grab my attention again to the point I would rather play it then come here and post.  As it stands now none of the games out there interest me so I have time to come here and complain.

My gues is for sandbox with core gamplay free for all pvp and fantasy setting there can only be one succesfull mmo on market for me it seems likely candidate is Darkfall.

You ask why, well hardcore is just not mainstream so many will not survive the high learning curve of games like darkfall let alone the the harsh pvp.

But future will tell hehe.

Im big fan of games like darkfall but i never make stupid topics like like.....A vs B or go over to other game forums and say there game sucks hehe.

I hope all have succes but that's im affraid not how world works a few survive, for hardcore sandbox games its even harder.

Fallen earth is btw not realy a sandbox game.

Anyways, i don't feel like going at someons throat because of "his" game. I am not that protective about "my" game, either.
I certainly hope we can have a few more adult discussions than the "ur games sucks lulz - no u"-types of threads popping up randomly around these forums.
I find argueing about games pretty tiresome, though. People treat their own experience as facts, not as opinion, and will feel deeply insulted if someone thinks differently. I've been guilty of this myself at some time..that's why i usually stay the hell out of those topics. I'll probably just appear in the forums of those games when i actually play them. But it's still along time until this might happen..

Lol that explains me right now. I've been a member of MMORPG.com since oh well before SWG was released but not until recently have I spent this much time traversing the forums trying to find a game that might interest me because I'm so bored with the ones I've played for years and I've tried anything supposedly worth trying and didn't enjoy it.

Nah, I wont be at anyones throat or even frequent this forum much if the sandbox MMO Im waitng for releases with what they promise Ill be happy and leave these forums with nothing to complain about anymore. I'll have my game and all the sheep can play their loot grind, kill 10 of this, max level, hold my hand rubbish... away from me.
