All this game is, is a themepark for the lightsabers. They went after the young crowd that Lucas Arts wanted and have pretty much relegated this game to another hot when released, suffering a slow death soon after. There will be no depth, no reason to play for more than a month or two. Bioware has shown their ignorance of the MMO genre. Anybody trumpeting their astuteness about developing games is eating crow right now. |

Really making this statement just a couple of days after the game is announced is just ignorant, you cant make any statements about this game with certainty at this stage. |

Jeez. The drama queening going on over this game some 48 hours after announcement is unbelievable.
The internet is a true perpetual motion machine. The amount of negative energy produced from it FAR EXCEEDS all of the the electrical power used to power every web server on the planet. |

Erm, it's sheduled for a 2009 release so that says that it is quite far into development. |

WOW, you know nothing about this game yet are condeming it to death. How do you know there will be no depth? Because it is not a "sandbox"? How do you even know its not sandbox? They have said nothing about levels, classes or the economy. From what I have read you can be things other than jedi or sith. There WILL be PvP, and the devs are into WAR like RvR. In fact they want to use story elements to bring conflict between players. The whole story is based around the war between the sith and jedi factions. You will possibly have a companion like cheewee with han or R2D2 with Luke. They want the emphasis to be on action and not point click wait gameplay. Your choices will determine how NPCs treat you or even if you will get certain quests. You can be a light sider in the sith faction or a dark sider on the jedi faction. You can play like you want. Hell you can be a mandalorian who fights for the sith empire but is secretly revolted by the seemingly evil actions he is paid to take. This will bring a lot of depth and conflict of interest into the game. It will have a compelling storyline (BioWares MO) with PvP, Raiding and other endgame content. What are you looking for with depth? What more do you want? Its BioWare so I am expecting a skill point based leveling system like KoTOR and Mass Effect. Isn't that what you sandbox junkies want?

Originally posted by Ozmodan Just wanted to correct that for you... Seriously, the press release just came out. We have some very vague dev babble, a few screenies, some comments, and bioware's past work. No one, myself included, has any idea on what the game will be like. Heck, it could be an episodic mostly SP game. It could be a level grind WoW clone. It could be anything at this point. The same crap gets spewed about every game by varrious disgruntaled MMO players. They said the same things about WoW, the same things about WAR, the same things about Vanguard. Sometimes the naysayers are right, sometimes they are not. However, the fact is; no one but the devs have any clue as to what the eventual form of this title will take and how well it will be received. So unless you have some kind of magic crystal ball, or have infiltrated Bioware's HQ and played an Alpha build. I'll take your comments for the useless ranting it is. The only good advice you can get on an MMO before launch is: Unless you don't care about the money, don't pre-order an MMO. Wait until people have played it before buying and you will never get burned. That goes for this title and any others. |
