Communism is just a red herring.

Installing it right now, is anyone else playing it?

Will do. From the reviews I have read, people seem to like it a lot.

*Laserwolf - Yup it is.

I've only got about an hour of game time in it so far... maybe a bit less.

The UI has been consolefied... tremendously. Lots of windows, buttons to push, and poor menu system. As I said, clearly made with a console in mind rather than a PC. EDIT: oh, and the screen itself is very uncluttered. Very minimalist. This is good and bad, but mainly good. Also, the health system is kind of wierd and kind of hokey, as is the safe system that they appear to have installed for consoles but left in for the PC version (you can quick or hard save whenever you want on the PC version, so the console save mechanic is entirely redundant.)

The graphics are excellent and my framerate with a ATi 4870 and a decent system was very good. However, I have a widescreen monitor and they cropped the picture in order to shift from 4x3 to 16x9 (or 10). So, in 1920x1200 that I run with, I lose part of the top and bottom of the intended image. Also, it seems to give the image a "zoom" look. Honestly, I didn't understand why I was getting a tight feeling in my head after playing it: maybe that is why, maybe not.

Sound is good, but the VA is pretty dead pan, which seems to fit the environment well enough.

The plot is, well, kill an arms dealer. To do that, you have to do a lot of missions for various parties and stuff.

Game mechanics... unlocks. Yeah. Unlock gun abilities. Unlock safe houses. Unlock buddies who can tell you how to approach a mission from a different (better) method. Unlock this and unlock that. Bah. Consolish once again. Also, the weapons you find are not named, so it is hard to tell sometimes just what sort of weapon you'd swap to if you took it, and since you unlock benefits for certain types of weapons, that's good to do.

Overall, I'm pretty disappointed with the game so far. I didn't expect some of the aspects of the game to be so consolefied. I guess I thought it would be more like Crysis in that regard, which still has some consolefication to it, but not as much and, for me, a tolerable amount. It doesn't flow well, IMO. You drive around a lot between spots where you do actual missions. The AI is dumb as rocks. The plot is not enticing to me. And I started feeling a throbbing in my head after an hour or so of play (which may or may not have been due to the game).

I'm going to play it some more. I spent nearly $50 on it and don't want to write it off just yet, but I have to say that so far, I liked Far Cry 1 a whole lot better than this game. It was more fun, flowed better, and had a better AI, UI, and menu system, IMO.

Right now, if I had to rate it, I'd give it a 7/10.

Cool thanks for the review. I do hate when games that should be made for the PC get consolized. It's what killed Unreal Tournament 3 imo.

About your head, I guarantee it's motion sickness. From what I have seen, the game has killer motion blur. I recently installed Morrowind and played with the MGE (which has mition blur) and it almost made me sick after playing for a while. Like in this link - www.youtube.com/watch

Ask a question and you are stupid for 30 seconds, never ask and you are stupid for life.

actually, its not too surprising that is consolized. Why you ask?

Read in an interview on gamestop (don't ask me to find it, I have a cold and too tired to find it. And actually, it might have been a link on the gamestop forums now that I think of it) that since Crysis was so heavily pirated that they would never do a PC only game again.

And yet they go with the Xbox 360?lol

Guess they'll make money off the PS3 players ( until blu-ray burners/copiers become mainstream ).

Goozex.com Try it, you'll like it.

Don't have sigs with a cheerleaders butt swinging in it, or the prudes in the Age of Conan forum section of mmorpg.com will demand the mods have it removed.
