I really loved E&B and since it has been closed i tried to find a game that would be similar.  Among them X2, X3 but this arent online game, so i get bored fast.   So i'm wondering, what kind of game this compares to ?  Is it more like E&B or Eve ?

The answer is niether.

JGE is twitched based movement and combat that requires you to actually aim to fire. Whether or not you hit is based on your own skill as a pilot. Think Freespace, but with Newtonian physics added in.

And that's the other thing. JGE makes use of Newtonian physics. That means, just like in space in real life, if you speed up, you slow down by firing your engines in the opposite direction. Simply cutting power to your engines will only very gradually slow you down.

Also, you are permanently part of your ship, in that you never actually leave the cockpit unless your ship is destroyed. So in that respect, it's more like EVE.

I'm seeing a lot of people trying to make comparisons to other MMOs, but the fact of the matter is, Jumpgate is unique from other space based MMOs. If you really want to get a feel for the what the game will be like, try out the original Jumpgate. That will tell you a lot about basics, though JGE will obviously be more complex.

Its more like E&B but you need to fly the ship manually and there is no ceiling or floor like in E&B.  I liked it a lot to but the ceiling bothered me being in space and all.  Jumpgate has more connections with E&B than EVE but the PvP is huge so in that sense not like E&B at all.

Hence the answer is "neither" as I stated above.

Some of you might not know this, but Jumpgate came way before E&B

I have been playing JGC since probabaly 2002 or so.  Really enjoyed the game.  The highest I got was a level 23, but only because I quit and played, quit and played many times.

JGC is a game of total concentration, unless you are sitting in a station.  There is no time to go to the bathroom, answer the door bell or watch TV while you are playing.  You have to be alert 100% of the time.  Flux are relentless and if there is a Manta in your area, you are toast.  Not only that, but some players are looking to gank you just for the fun of it.

Plus, there are a few routes with those aggravating black asteroids that you cant see unless you are really paying attention to your radar or you are right on them.  One false move and you are toast.  Always keep back up purgatory missles and guns in your home station or you will be traveling everywhere to find them again.  You blow up and you lose just about everything.

I am hoping that JGE will have some interesting quests and fun stuff to do.  JGC was based on a point A to Point B type quests with sometimes scouting, mining and flux killing.  It is fun, but if you play solo, it gets boring.  Being part of a squad was fun while it lasted.  All of my Squad mates moved on.

I am really looking forward to JGE.

Well first off, Newtonian physics must have changed, cos shutting off your engines shouldn't slow you at all...unless of course you found your way into an asteroid field.

I'm a little surprised as to why so many people are asking if it's going to be anything like eve. Obviously far too many people would rather waste 30 seconds typing than spending that 30 seconds to read anything about the game...not bad mouthing these people as i'm guilty myself in many circumstances.

If it were going to be anything like EVE, i really don't think there would be such great hype. Personally if it were going to be, i'd rather just stay with EVE, a tried and proven package (though potentially not as new user friendly).

Have to agree with Daedalus, JGE will certainly be a unique MMO, heck, could we say revolutionary to space MMOs? Nah, i'm just kidding it really won't be, but its certainly got all the cards stacked in its favour, aiming at a niche of gamers with a couple of similarish, very successful games that already exist (EVE and JG) to learn from.

I hope JGE will not fully implement Newton physics (NP). Otherwise it will be fully "unflyable". I don't think, I want to PvP according to NP. Gravity fields of celestial objects (stars, planets, asteroids) are pain in the ass.

Did you ever try Celestis? That uses NP. It is a very good game, but if you would try to control your ship using your stick, you would hug Mother Earth in less then a minute.
