After having posted for about a month in MMORPG I have had quite a few funny experiences. Todays Age of Conan Review was another one of those, but just a minor bump in the road compared to all other madness in this forum. I will talk more about this further down in my post, but for now, back to my funny experiences here in MMORPG; I have had so much verbal abuse for posting about this game. I think AoC is a revolution in genral to the crappy looking MMO genre. I've been called a FC employee, a Shill (whatever that is), a salesman and so on. I've also read posts, from people typically with FailCom logo, like "I want to drag Einar Elingsensen out in my backyard and shoot him","I hope all FC's devs with their families go out of business and die", and so on. I have discussed with people that actually got banned, but then turned up with a new profile 30 min later and admitted it. I've had people making up weird posts in other forums like TTH about me to undermine my integrity. The worst thing though is that posts like above often can sit for days or so unmoderated, sometime even months. This is so unheard of that there have to be more behind this than just coincidense and sloppy moderator work. The 6/10 review today made me realize this more than anything.

There are three mainpoints I want to bring up with regards to that review

1. Jef says: "Any discussion of Age of Conan is bound to get around to its visuals, and with good reason. The game is unquestionably the best looking MMORPG to date, full of eye candy both in terms of its lush environments and the startling attention to detail given to character models and movement animations. The motions are, for the most part, fluid and life-like, a far cry from the jerky, comparatively primitive offerings of other games on the market. That said, all the sexiness comes at a hefty price, namely the steepest system requirements in the genre, and the caveat that even with a three-thousand dollar tyrannosaurus of a gaming computer, you're still going to lag like a drunken wooly mammoth and experience significant frame rate issues when attempting to engage in siege combat (or really, any combat with more than a few people on screen)." This is not correct. AoC had performance and FPS issues some time after launch (according to players that played the game from the beginning). This is not the case anymore. There are hundreds of threads on this in AoC official forums, and the concensus is performance is way up. Me myself in example started playing like +3 weeks ago, and my really boring medio Rig (only nonboring part is my GeForce 8800) runs this game on high at 30-40 FPS. I have read numerous posts where people say they run AoC on high at higher FPS than WAR. So I think good old Jef took a shortcut here and recycled some after launch common knowledge. For lag, there have been some posts as of late on lag, but this is not the type of lag you will get due to high activity in an area. This is just high latency spikes that seem to drop in every now and then for no particular reason.

2. 6/10 is way too low for this very well made game. People keep telling me that the game I play has bugs. Well guess what I can't hardly find any. Game runs smooth as silk and I have only noticed one or two funny bugs til now (LvL 40s). Maybe I am not good enoough troubleshooter or a hopeless programmer (I think that would be to put it mildly), but this game looks bugfree to me. I am well aware of that every patch holds a ton of fixes, tweeks and changes for a reason, but I am saying these bugs are not glaring issues that will hamper the average user in any way. The game is totally fine in my opinion. When I started Age of Conan I was blown away. This game seriously holds the standard of Heavenly Sword and Lost Planet on Xbox360 for the guys that have tested those (and this is only the Dx9 version). This alone is a masterfull achievement for an MMO. When I started playing I kid you not, I went WTFOMGWTFOMG, this is the coolest shit I've ever seen *spasm* "I cut his FCKing arm off" lololol. I was shocked and I am still really amazed about how well this game is made. A mixture of the graphics themselves and the very welltimed smooth animations just absolutely fullfill all my demands on visuals. I could go on and on, but all in all i gave the game a 10/10 at start. Now after 44 levels I am thinking on giving the game perhaps a 9/10 as the crafting was not as good as it could have been. Anyway all this brings me to the conclusion that 6/10 is an outrageously low score. There is absolutely now way this game can get less than 7 or 8. Maybe it was those erronous FPS or bug remarks that contributed to the 6, but 6/10 for this game is way to hard. Just compare it to what other material available in the industry today and it should not be hard to realize that a 6 is way to hard on this game.

3. I am not a RPer, but I have read some of the RP guys in AoC's forums reaction on Jefs review. They are shocked that the reviewer has not found Ctrl+Y in order to pop up the emoticon UI. The game has more emoticons than any other MMOs out there and still is it not good enough. As if sheer number was not enough the animations themself holds extraordinary quality. My point is AoC is one of the better RP games out there immersed in a fantastic atmosphere which only RPers can appreciate the full value of.

There is absolutely no real reason for why you can give a game like AoC same score as Matrix Online as somebody pointed out in another thread. It is completely madness. This game holds higher quality that most Xbox360 games I can find on a PC with DX9 and you still can tell me, an ex-console player, with important professor tone that this game is a 6/10. This is just madness. You see your intentions are just too much out in the open. There is no way AoC can have a 6/10 score.  Where am I evetually going with this? Well, what this is building up to is that MMORPG and these type of forums that are doing business by advertising/reviewing games and also portioning out negative publisity through forum posting/moderation, is really not as objective as we want to belive. MMORPG lost all integrity in my eyes today as it starts to dawn on me why the forum is in the condition I described on top of this post. I am not saying it is all a scam, but I would not be surprised if there is more than an unhealty amount of influences to how this site is run. Am I paranoide, perhaps, but if you as a player think Blizz and Mythic with others are not intimidated by FC semisuccessfully launch of this beast of a game (Age of Conan), you are wrong. Because anyone launching a game that can offer better graphics and animations than Heavenly Sword in the package of a MMO is a major threat. If FC get AoC running, the momentum of this monster will blow a big hole in the whole industry. Blizz know it, Mythic know it and most of the other guys. They just need to pull strings and cross fingers till the point they have their AoC equivalent out.

Finally I just like to end this by saying; Gamers out there, 6/10 is nothing but a joke. This is a 10/10 or a 9/10 (that by the way most reviewers gave up front before game launch) game. Gameenthusiasts, Don't let them get you. Age of Conan is a fabolous game just waiting for you to enter and face the consequences of real PvP (patch 3.0).

I'll be over in AoC forums from now posting on daily basis about why FC need to wind down the money they waste on the MMORPG forum trolls. By the way, I give you remaining AoC fans the responsibility to bump this thread forever just to keep the finger up. I am out of here, Sayonara!

10/10 (9/10 if you love Crafting)

I play AoC, but 10/10??? Come one, 6 is  harsh, the game is something like a 8 to me but there is way to litle content yet. I never even played a 10 MMO (Neverwinter nights was my last 10 game) but AoC do need a lot of work still. Hopefully, it can rise to a 9. But it was 6 at release, way to buggy then.

The review guy missed that all "Asshats" play the PvP servers, on the PvE servers the players are generally nice people (have the same experience in EQ2 btw). There are some nice players there too but I meet far more idiots on PvP servers than on PvE.

"my favorite thing is a Gyro"--Malibu Dan

Well, I think the game is dull, but that's me. I could care less if the game got a 10/10 or a 1/10...even if it was a game I liked because in the end, the only opinion  about a game that matters is mine.

All this spam of text just to say the game is great. You could of said the same thing with less words, bro. I never read reviews because I generally never find two people who share the same exact opinions. I only write them unfortunately. But this game is no were near a 10/10 or 9/10. 30-40 fps in an mmorpg is pretty much average when it comes to gameplay, but falls to below average in scenarios when you have more then 10 entitys on a screen at once. I would give this game between a 6-7/10. This game had to many problems at launch and still suffers from the more obvious ones. Don't ask me to name them because you can clearly read them on the first 3 pages of General Discussion on there boards. I guess your opinon is valid and have fun playing the game. I just hope your intentions on making this post were not to sway people back. It never works.

A mind is like a parachute, it only works when it is OPEN. -

Real game reviews seem to give the game a steady 6/10 (even though I would give it a 5/10).

I can't think a single honest person that would rate the game higher than a 7/10,  REH is probably spinning in his grave because of this game created on his IP. All the pre-release hype, the lies, the subterfuge, the continuing marketing attempts on all the major game forums...

Be honest Pezz...

No game is perfect, and with all the problems that AoC has had(regardless of your ignoring them) you giving the game a 10/10 is just dishonest and makes you look ignorant.

Be honest Pezz...

You have not hit the bad levels yet, 70-80 are poorly implemented, and the game world is too small, not enough High lvl areas, not enough high lvl dungeon,s this game is worth 2-3 months of play for the average gamer (more if you are a sociopathic ganker/griefer who plays just to interfere with lower levels trying to lvl up). Less if you cgharge head-first into your MMOs. Sure you can run the same raids over and over, but that is just lame.

Be honest Pezz...

Aoc is a decent game, it can be made better, but if the FC developers listen to people like you, the game will stagnate and die within 6-12 months because why do any additional content, or fix things if it is 10/10? There wouldn't be a reason if it is worthy of a "perfect score", they should stop all patches, discontinue work on expansions, lay off all the devs and just go with what they have.

I'm sure the game is fun to you now, but it doesn't deserve the rating you give it, even Craig Morrison himself has said the game has problems and needs work. No game on this planet deserves a 10/10, no game delivers that kind of content and fun, none, nada, zip, zilcho...

And you repeating yourself over and over will never make it true.

Yes, but asking a fanboi to be realistic is like asking a blind man to find a corner in a round room. Pointless.

Yeah I have to agree, no game is worth a 10 especially an MMO.
