I just saw someone post this on the AOC forum, I just wanted to see what you guys think of this statement?

ROFL that's a good one.

From what I've heard (this is completely hearsay), the AoC moderators have been far, far less tolerant of dissent than SOE's ever were. But to say that SOE "never banned anyone for speaking their mind on a forum" is the height of either denial, idiocy or dementia.

Well I can say I posted plenty of "my mind" and "dissent" on soe forums and aoc forums as well.  I never got a ban of any kind on either forum.

I've had warnings here that I was thread hijacking when I was in fact posting on topic...  so personally I'd say this site is worse than either.

Like everything else its all based on perspective or experience.

I'm sure many of the people who were banned.. well if you stepped back and read the posts.. you'd see why they were banned.

I also remember one of the red names talking about blowing people out of the airlock... and I didn't really agree with that.  It was in regards to banning for stuff on a forum...

I guess the short version is I've never been banned for saying what I felt I wanted to say or even taking on what a "red name" or even smedley when he posts has had to say... but I also keep my replies to a certain format in those cases as well.

my IP was banned many times by mythic for using the "feedback" fourm, geuss they dont know about DHCP tho.  /shrug

You are an evil, evil man. Someone had posted a link to an XXX porn site on the SWG Oboards during one of the holidays. It stayed up for about 4 hours I think. Had several pages of comments.

Lol yeah, I can see that happening.  I pointed out contradictions also, got locked, deleted, moved and finally banned.
 

Usually I'd highlight what they said they were going to do, and contrast that with what they actually did.  Apparently customers wanting to get what they actually paid for are unwelcome there.  Suits me, not my kind of people to do business with.

Since your talking about me, how about I clarify your misrepresentation of what I said. First off, I never said SOE never banned anyone, but rather that they don't ban people right off the bat without a warning. Funcom has a habit of banning people because the moderators aren't part of the company and are not very customer friendly.

Locking threads because they contain negativity is another huge Funcom custom. No, SOE does not go around locking every negative thread, as long as the poster provides some sort of constructive point. By that I mean, points out what he doesn't like or what he feels needs to be fixed.

So, hopefully you understand that I was not saying SOE was perfect, they just aren't nazi like Funcom.

I got banned with zero warning on the official SOE forums for speaking my mind. Granted, I vocalized my feelings that the moderators were ruling the boards in a similar way to an early 1930-1940 German governing body, but none the less it was still me speaking my mind.
